The problem with the Cowboy is the huge amount of bandwagon fans who only come out of the woodwork when the teams is good spouting idiot sayings like, “how bout them Cowboys,” “America’s team,” and “the hole in the roof is for God to watch his favorite team” non-sense.
Well, everyone else in the world whose view of football isn’t snowed by Teh Eli.
As do the dreaded LSU Tigers. Hate 'em all.
Lots of knit pickings but no truth how sad
-
jealousy is the name of the game, jealousy Dallas
got successful before they did -
jealousy Dallas is talked about and regarded higher
than all the other franchises -
so what they did was? they boarded the Redskins
hate wagon and began a “hate” of their very own
except now we know the truth behind it all
Ladies and Gentlemen (and Zombies), may I present … A Cowboys fan.
The movie North Dallas Forty.
Good lord son, that is one poor post. You ain’t from around here, are you?
“knit” picking?
He probably went to Tom Landry Middle School and had Peggy Hill for a substitute English teacher.
Is it too meta to say I hate them because of their fans?
Moving this over to The Game Room where we can all enjoy bagging on the Cowboys.
- The whole “America’s Team” thing. What a phuching crock.
- Their delusional fans - While it’s true that the Cowpies were one of the league’s strongest under Tom Landry (until about 1985) and that they won 3 SBs in 4 seasons in the early to mid-'90s (due in no small part to the 'pies hoodwinking the Minnesota Vikings into sending approximately 1000 draft picks to Irving for one measly player [Herschel Walker] in 1989), since then I think they’ve managed something like TWO playoff victories (with one of those being this year’s VERY controversial win over the N.F.L. “powerhouse” that is the Detroit Lions) but to hear their Wal-Mart “fans” tell it you’d think that they’ve been Super Bowl contenders every year since AND that Tony Romo is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer once his playing career is over. Again: what a phuching CROCK.
- Their owner is an arrogant ass. On the other hand, it’s been nice knowing that since 1996 J.J. has been throwing untold MILLIONS of $$$ down the drain paying players that produced mostly LOSING seasons. That has been VERY satisfying, indeed, to non-Cowpie fans such as myself.
The L.S.U. Tigers - probably the ONLY major college football team whose “regular” uniforms I hate as much as I do Miss-again’s road ones. White and yellow together - YUCK!!
I know this is a zombie thread, and somehow I missed it the first time around.
But my hatred burns pretty bright, so I’ll post anyway.
First, I grew up primarily an Oilers fan in Houston. But I didn’t have any hate for the Cowboys at that time- they were my 2nd favorite team.
Then, I went to college in 1991. The Oilers were good, and so were the Cowboys (both went 11-5 that year). But the Cowboys fans in college were SO arrogant about it- they’d invade the TV room in the dorm and demand that the TV be turned to the Cowboys game while several of us were already watching the Oilers. They’d talk shit about everything else. They’d bring up that asinine “America’s Team” stuff over and over. They were generally obnoxious as hell.
So I got over that, and eventually actually ended up moving to the Dallas area. Now I hate the team because of the relentless media-whoring and the rather obscene way that the local media licks that stuff up. A Cowboys player could post a picture of his latest dump on Instagram and that shit would be the top story on the nightly news around here. The newspapers already have their junk in a lip-lock- there’s a “Cowboys” sub-section in the sports section 12 months of the year, and any stupid little thing is serious news. Jerry Jones’ least utterance gets serious consideration.
Finally, Tony Romo just bugs the crap out of me. I’m still not convinced that he’s actually good; rather they built a team around him that he doesn’t suck under. The guy’s an undrafted third-stringer from a podunk college who got the starting job by virtue of being the only guy left on the roster with “QB” next to his name. And for the past decade, we’ve heard about how he’s so awesome, etc… and with the exception of his first season and this past one, he’s been lackluster at best.
I guess long story short, I’m tired of the local media handjob that goes on here in DFW; there’s a lot of interesting sports stuff and other news, but it seems like 25% of everything is always Cowboys related.
(oddly enough, I live within spitting distance of the original North Dallas practice field - the “North Dallas Forty” from movie and book fame)
That’s one thing you and I have in common, then: EASILY my two least-favorite N.F.L. teams are two of the “D” teams - Dallas (Arlington?) and Denver (Detroit’s team? It hasn’t done enough noteworthy in YEARS for me to “hate” it). My earliest Super Bowl memory is of watching Super Bowl XII. I don’t know why I watched it. I don’t think I’ve EVER liked the Cowpies and I didn’t like the “Orange Crush,” either, because it had eliminated my THEN-favorite team (and defending Super Bowl champions) Oakland in the A.F.C. title game (with the help of a VERY controversial call near the Oakland goal line where resident badass Jack “The Assassin” Tatum separated not only the ball from Fairies’ rookie FB Rob Lytle [interestingly, from Miss-again - the avowed arch-enemy of the school where Jack Tatum played his college ball] but also Rob Lytle from his senses but - somehow - the Fairies were allowed to keep possession of the ball. I’m sure many babies were born in the Denver area 9 months later - incredibly, that was Oakland’s first loss in Denver since the early '60s: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/game_query.cgi?tm1=rai&tm2=den&yr=all). To this day whenever those two teams play I root for a 0 - 0 overtime tie and key injuries to about 10 players on both sides. If they were to meet up in a Super Bowl again? I just wouldn’t give a phuch.
The way Jerry Jones went about firing Tom Landry was one of the shittiest, most low-class moves in the history of the NHL. One of the greatest coachs of all time, and they just dumped him like garbage, didn’t even bother to inform the guy before announcing it to the press.
Which team would that be?
Ever heard of the Pittsburgh Steelers?
6 > 5
Hard to fathom, seeing the long run of mediocrity the team has had.
At least they’re better than the N.Y. Knicks.
I hate zombies because they eat people’s brains. I hate the Cowboys because of that star on their helmets.
The Cowboys didn’t create the “America’s Team” moniker.
