Why have several B list superheroes gotten movies, but Wonder Woman is ignored?

Not to mention the obvious WW casting problem, which I don’t envy. Athletic + good actor + sexy + kickass? Not easy to find.

Put her in a thong and a skimpy top, maybe with some nice shiny boots, have her kick villain ass in some very imaginative action scenes, work the lesbian angle hard, but keep it plausibly deniable (see Xena: Warrior Princess playbook on that one) – maybe some angsty scenes of her longing for her loving friends on paradise island while also feeling strange feelings of attraction to men. After all she has never been around men before, you could practically do it as a bisexual coming of age story. Work the bondage angle in the same way – perhaps some juicy scenes of nearly naked Amazons enslaved by Hercules forced to serve in all sorts of ways, adding some resonance to the bracelets part of the mythos. Market to horny teen males who are the major moviegoing demographic and watch the bucks roll in.

Chances of this actually happening? Close to zilch. What a shame.

A few years ago a tampon company here in the UK sponsored a series of movies on TV, with the company’s pack shot topping and tailing every segment. The theme of the series was “strong women”, and - sure enough - Aliens was one of the movies featured. You can see the general logic at work, but it’s perhaps not the first movie you’d choose to sell a product women are asked to put into their own bodies.
