The episode the other night was another thought provoker! Story: An infant was found in cooler floating down the Hudson. (IIRC) The baby was determined to be an ASYMPTOMATIC Tay-Sachs disease baby. I’m no T-S expert, but I gather it is a painful, early death. The mother forced the pediatrician to give her sedatives, which she used to OD the baby on, then staged a fake funeral. She did this to hide an act of infedelity. (this revelation lost her BIG sympathy points with me.) I support euthanasia (this is not a Euthanasia post, we can go to GD for that) BUT, you need INFORMED consent to do it, newborn babies CANNOT give consent.
I love that show.
Actually I love all of them.
Mondays are SVU, Tuesdays Criminal Intent, Wednesdays L&O.
The one thing Irish TV does well.
The scariest one was the Fred West take-off…the girl tried to throw herself under a sub-way train, after her father inseminated her. Really creepy.
Nice to find some fellow fans. My whole family is addicted to L&O, but my SO hates it. I’m sure I drive him crazy watching it all the time.
I’m watching L&O:CI right now! and Crime and Punishment is back again for the summer!
It’s just such as awesome show! SVU is by far my favorite though.
I saw that episode, so I’m not feeling personally wronged, but I still think it’s worth the time to introduce you to the mysteries of the spoiler box:
Put stuff that will ruin the suspense for people who haven’t seen it yet in here
Putting a big fat SPOILER FOR CURRENT EPISODE in the thread title is a considerate gesture, too.
[/end pissy-but-needed-to-be-said part]
I really liked seeing Judd Hirsch again. That man doesn’t get enough work.
I also liked the commentary on the whole right-to-privacy-thing.
Circumstantial evidence from a university clinic leads them to a 15-year-old girl who had a positive pregnancy test, but no baby. In the course of their investigation, they make her pregnancy known to her ex-boyfriend, who she has elected not to inform, and worse, to her abusive father. Then they talk to the girl herself and find out she had a legal abortion. Yay! A good day’s work, there. Ouch.(Not that that spoiler box is worth much, since the episode’s been blown already anyway.)
Thanks Larry, need to start remebering to put SPOILERS in my title!
