Why is Bill Parcells nicknamed "Tuna"?

Well, it wasn’t always that big," Parcells said Thursday. “When I was in Boston in my first year in the NFL, on Thanksgiving. I was coaching the linebackers at the time, and they tried to pepper me with the old gag about the free turkey down at the store and I had to sign up for it. But I was a little skeptical of that, going and signing up for that, so I said, ‘You don’t think I’m Charlie the Tuna?’ He was a guy that was, I guess, the StarKist mascot at the time. It kind of took on a life of its own.”

That was 1980.
