Why is my thread dead?

One of my best threads! It wouldn’t turn up with the search engine, but I remember linking to it in another thread- that’s the only way I was able to find any link to it.

It’s called Nasty Food, and if you go to this thread, you’ll see about half way down where I posted a link to it. But the link doesn’t work any more! It goes to the forum list. When I try to modify a URL to reflect the thread ID = 000813, I get a thread about the columbine murderers.

The URL to the link is:

http://boards.straightdope.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000813.html

Que pasa?

Que pasa, indeed? Your first link, that says “this thread”, goes to the Snopes Home Page.

Your second link, that says it’s supposed to be a thread, goes to the Straight Dope Main Forums Page.

Huh?

Tell us what forum you posted it in and we’ll help you look for it.

So we tanned his thread’s hide
When it died, Clyde,
And that’s it a-hangin’ on the shed.

opus, at the time of the vBulletin upgrade, all links to threads posted under UBB became invalid.

Your best bet is to use the search engine, it works at a decent speed.

Okay, when I said this thread, I meant THIS THREAD.

The search engine is of no avail. I have a copy of my original post so I know exactly which key words to search for. According to the search engine, there are several threads that contain the following words:

dachshund
phlegm wads
zucchini
souse loaf
gag-reflex

However none of them are my thread.

When I did a search for dexahydroxide brominate your thread was one of the two listed, so I think the search function does find this thread, at its new location.

Um, what? My original thread, entitled “Nasty Food” does not contain the phrase dexahydroxide brominate, so I’m not sure what you are referring to. The question remains: why is my thread dead?

It’s possible that it was archived prior to the vBulletin switchover. If that’s the case, you can’t get to it right now. The old archives have not been brought on-line. The infamous Flat Earth thread starring Phaedrus is in the same state of limbo. Sorry 'bout that.

Hell with getting the flat earth stuff thread back…we want GUY STUFF, Unc!
