Why is the board's clock running two minutes slow?

Yeah, but it would lose money, and go under within a year.

I agree, somehow the sync with the time server is broke. That could indicate a bigger network connectivity issue. It needs to be checked ASAP.

Issues like this are what any good support tech watches for. It may seem trivial to the public but we do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure the server is running when they try to use it. We constantly read the system logs looking for services that failed to start. Services that aborted. Thats why it requires a full time tech to properly maintain a server. Especially a high traffic server like the sdmb.

I just discovered that it does cause a bit of a problem on Tapatalk. It thinks the post was posted 5 minutes ago when you post it. Fortunately, it still lets you edit, but you might mistakenly think your edit time is up.

Like I said, a bit of a problem. The real issue is the whole canary/coalmine thing. If Jerry were still in charge, I’d email him (as he’s emailed me before). But I don’t know about this new guy.

I guess you didn’t get the message. It’s been outsourced to India. Put Attn:Reyansh in your emails to Cecil and it’ll get there.

Now this board’s software is truly behind the times.

I come here for the intelligent conversation, not emoticons and goofy pictures. :dubious: <-Except this one.

Not all pictures are goofy.

I would guess that you use smilies more than the average poster.

It’s been fixed.

The fix is in?

I do not!
:dubious:

Hey, we’re back in sync!

Although, I have it on good authority that instead of resetting the board’s clock, TPTB actually hacked into the Atomic Clock database at the Greenwich Royal Observatory to set the rest of the world’s clocks back by five minutes. Probably easier to do it that way, anyway.

Test.

EDIT: Yep, back in sync. Good job.

Did someone put something special in the hamsters’ cheese?

Hope it wasn’t TOO special or the clock might start going 10 minutes fast!

Hope they figured out what was wrong and this isn’t just a temporary fix.

Maybe the servers were plugged into a 50 Hz outlet.

They were all given Mickey Mouse watches.

edit: Yay, it’s been fixed! Showing as 5:31 PM - only difference being the time zone.
