So far today it’s persistent on my Android w Chrome, but completely absent on my PC w Edge. That’s all with no aftermarket filtering of any kind.
It won’t go away on my kindle tablet. It just appeared this afternoon and it’s annoying.
My computer broke and tablets/cell phones are all I have for now.
It does partially block the reply button which might be an issue with such small screens.
There are no ad block options for my tablets.
Guess I’ll have to deal with it. But not happy. 
I think it’s not showing on some laptops because of basic filtering with AdBlock, uBlock Origin, or similar.
I have uBlock Origin on my laptop with no special rules for the SDMB, and it doesn’t show for me. But if I turn it off completely, the cookie image appears. Try turning off your AdBlock and report back.
Excellent observation! If I completely turn off Adblock, I get Cookie Monster!
The strange thing is that back when I started this thread on July 17, I was seeing the cookie even with Adblock enabled, and had to use “Block Element” to make it go away. No question about that, I even turned off the applicable “Block Element” filter, saw the cookie reappear, then turned it on again.
So Adblock now disabling the cookie even without a specific image filter is really strange. I can only imagine that the cookie implementation must have changed. On my tablet, I have uBlock Origin installed on Firefox for Android, so that might be doing something similar.
Yeah, seems like a work in progress. They turned it on for everyone, then turned it off completely, and now have it turned on but in a way that it’s blocked by standard adblockers.
Maybe eventually they’ll figure out how to turn it on by geolocation. And hopefully figure out how to implement it without covering up part of the damn screen.
It just showed up. On my iPad and iPhone. I’ve opted out of its permissions for analytics and selling data etc. but the cookie remains
The timing is really weird, too. The EU cookie regulations have been in place for years now, and whatever Discourse was already doing was apparently compliant. Why the change?

I’ve just seen it, it doesn’t seem very bothersome, though I’m looking at it on a big screen, perhaps is more annoying in a cell phone.
I note the same. I understand why the cookie was there. But once I’ve set my preferences, I don’t understand why it’s still there.

I have noticed a particularly aggressive return of cookie warnings across multiple sites lately, where even after agreeing, a week later the warning returns over and over. I’m not going to change my mind every Wednesday, there is no need for this amount of bothersome nonsense.
