I’m using, IIRC, Vincent. Oddly enough, at least IME, it’s usually the one with the problems.

@Joey_P 's quote is a screenshot, hosted on an external image server - the above is the quote function on Discourse. I don’t think it will let you quote the post that is last in the thread (unless that has been changed) - the logic there is that it’s supposed to be obvious your reply is to the preceding post
The interface did change. Now, when I highlight a text, it offers the quote/copy quote option, but the quote bubble is gone. Weird.

Also, to the best of my knowdlege, there haven’t been any changes recently. At least I didn’t see any threads pop up about anything. And since you said it was gone, then it came back, now it’s gone again, makes me think it’s something on your end.
Me too - @Aeschines are you talking about the little thing that shows up when you highlight text, that says ‘Quote / Copy quote / Share’ ?
So when you hit reply, you get the line of symbols at the top, right? The first one is B for bold, but, until recently, what came first (for me at least) was a speech bubble (such as used by cartoonists to put the words in a character is speaking). Hitting the speech bubble would quote the entire text of the post to which one was replying.

I don’t remember there being a speech bubble, but I’ve only ever quoted previous posts by scrolling up to them and highlighting part/all of them
Gone for me, too (Straight Dope Light interface). I think this was a very recent change. I may have seen the speech bubble thingie as recently as maybe yesterday or the day before.
I don’t know if it’s a bug or somebody’s idea of an “optimization”, but it’s problematic because highlighting text to get the “Quote/Copy” option can be tricky on non-keyboard devices (phone, tablet). It was much easier to just tap on the bubble.
I’m using Straight Dope Light and the speech bubble is gone from that.
True - I often find that it competes with the controls for the endpoints of the selection.
Is there any interface option that gets it back?

Haha, yes. Well, I’m sure this change just happened. I used that quote function the day before yesterday, IIRC.
