Am I alone here. Three times I have registered with Yahoo. Three times there is a promise of e-mailing me the important info on logging into Yahoo. Three times they have sent nothing.
I even attempted to call them on the phone, but they still ask for my ID number, which I have yet to receive. I tried to go back to their site and write them a nasty letter, but there is no link to e-mail. Just links to other categories. I do not expect them to reply. Yet still the number of Yahoo groups multiply.
Any others out there with Yahoo problems? How did you fix them?
I too have had problems with Yahoo! not sending confirmation emails ever to email addresses I know were working. I know I somehow managed to join the groups I wanted eventually, and that I found a way to send them nasty email about it, but it was almost a year ago, so I’ve forgotten how. It’s sad to hear that those problems continue to plague them. My best advice for finding a way to email them and complain is to be persistent- they like to hide actual contact information in places where it is very hard to find. If you could tell us what you were registering for, maybe someone else could find the address to mail your complaints too.
I can possibly top your experience, Road Rash. One day, not too long ago, my Yahoo ID simply stopped working. I went through the “Forget your ID?” and “Forget your password?” forms, and even though I’m sure I got everything right, they refused me each time by saying that my e-mail address didn’t match what they had on file… and I’ve only had 3 e-mails in my life (after college).
I wrote them letters, and someone did seem to respond. I sent them dozens of examples that I was the real JRGinsburg, but they dimissed them. I challenged them to tell me what e-mail address they had on file, but they said they couldn’t share private information. We did have a rather civil, if completely futile, e-mail correspondence. In the end, Yahoo won and I lost, and I had to pick a new ID and password. “JRGinsburg” is now basically defunct, since I can’t access it but no one else can take it.
I deleted all those e-mails since they made me mad. But I believe I got the address through the “Forget your ID?” page, which gave you a field to explain the problem. Then they started to write back, and I could respond to that e-mail. I know you never got an ID, but I’m pretty sure that’s how I began a (again, useless) dialogue.
Good luck. If you want to start an anti-Yahoo petition, I’ll sign it.
If your e-mail isn’t logged into for over 3 months, most providers will shut it down as it is wasting space. I always thought they removed the address from the list as well, and perhaps somebody else used that address. My last name’s fairly obscure and I still had to use my middle initial and the extended form of my first name, so it is possible.
If you don’t like it, just boycott it. In my experience, they’ve been a hell of a lot better about Junk mail than hotmail. I used to recieve over 250 junk messages a day, and eventually I started running out of room daily. If it happens on yahoo, maybe I’ll join in too.
Road Rash, try it with your ID name that you tried to register with and not the number. When I first found that page I was logged in, and that field was automatically filled in with my Yahoo! SN (also Melandry) not a random number. It’s worth a shot.
