Why isn't handy a mod?

With a post count like handy has, why isn’t he a mod?

Is this a serious question?

Why aren’t bank tellers rich?

I think the whole idea is quality over quantity. There are probably lots members who have higher post counts than some of the mods, but that really doesn’t mean anything. If you’ve read any of handy’s posts, you’ll see that there’s not a whole lot of “quality” there. His posts are drive-bys (bies?), which means they pertain very little to the OP. When asked to clarify, he seldom returns to explain his position. Also, it seems that a bunch of the information he shares isn’t necessarily correct.

I hope that explains things, MSK, without being too offensive to handy. (This is all stuff I’m sure he’s seen several times before.)

You make him sound like UncleBeer. He should fit right in.

I just gotta say, with all due respect to handy and everything that I laughed all through lunch. Thanks, MagicalSilverKey!

I can see it now:

Troll in GD: Your [sic] full of shit!

Handy: [Mod Hat On]
You know, the word shit comes from that annoying dog called the shitsyou. It annoys people, so that’s where the word comes from.
[/Mod Hat Off]

Imagine, finding levity at the ATMB. Life is good.

Who says handy even wants to be a mod? Just because he has a high post count doesn’t mean he want the responsibility of moving threads, fixing code, and all the other things the mods are responsible for.

Haha, stofsky, that was great. You made me laugh out loud despite my pain. Oh, man.

Oh, this too is funny for handy.

However, I have said here before that I do NOT want to be a moderator. Thus, unlike the rest of you, blur seems to have an idea of what is really happening with the handy-guy.

I was a moderator on a BBS for a couple of years & do not want to do it again.

As for short posts, brevity is the soul of a fast message board.

I do come back to explain myself sometimes but then what is the use of that for what matters my deafness if hearing people don’t listen?

LOL, these replies made me actually laugh out loud. I’m glad everyone else got a chuckle out of it, as well. The levity wasn’t intended, in my OP, but it’s cool it happened that way, nonetheless.

BTW: handy, just what specifically is it that you are “handy” at? [sub]Or do we really want to know?[/sub]:smiley:

MSK: He’s deaf. He uses ASL - he signs with his hands.

I did not know that. FTR I wasn’t making fun of him.

To see an example of a handy mod-like post, see his post in this thread. A single tap from the handy hammer drives the point home.

You mean… a high post count doesn’t guarantee a modship?

Consarnit, why’ve I been wasting my time here, then?!?

Aw hell, here’s as good a place as any…

Random thought: I wish handy had a gay lover that posted on the boards. Just on the off chance that he’d post “I come in handy sometimes” sooner or later.

so…what happens when handy reaches 100,000 posts?
Will the board blow up?

‘handy’ cause im handy around the house, also, yes I do sign but actually, it might surprise you, but I sign very LITTLE. I talk, other people sign, so that would make them ‘handy’.

As usual folks, those who have specific issues with me should say/sign/write them to my face. That should keep the board clean. I get really pissed when people attack me or anyone else, anonymously through the board, which I view as extrememly cowardly & prefer them to say things to my face. Sorry, the ADA doesn’t give you an interpreter for that

Also, I’m actually deafened.

Maybe he just wants to be the boards “handy” man.
