Why isn't Hillary clinton in jail?

  • The Rick Warren thing
  • Using some old pre-WWI law to go after whistle blowers
  • How he handled Snowden
  • The level of secrecy, lack of openness, in the administration

This is pretty much all he’s doing. He’s not interested in winning any arguments - hell, he’s not interesting in meaningfully participating in any arguments. He’s just flinging mindless drivel, and enjoying the reactions. I believe there’s a term for that.

That presumes a level of self-awareness I’ve seen no evidence of.

And I’ve encountered his type plenty of times out there on the wider interwebs, holding Manichaean views that require one to either accept the most extreme dogma or to be accused of the opposite extreme. It’s why Obama is frequently labelled a Communist, socialist, Marxist, Muslim, atheist, terrorist bent on destroying America - because if you’re not 100% onside, you’re the enemy. Which is exactly the behavior he’s accusing us of, in a textbook case of projection.

Frankly the way he’s hitting the “Leader” buzzer so hard makes me suspect he’s got a shrine to Saint Ronnie in his house somewhere.

Rumsfeld has something to hide, Hillary doesn’t.

And not criminally prosecuting a whole lot of Wall Street figures in the wake of 2008.

To be fair, Hillary probably does have something to hide but it may not be criminal or otherwise actionable and you can’t investigate just in case it might be.

I’d look very carefully at the law as it existed when Rumsfeld did the deleting, and the law at the time did not prohibit him from doing so, I’d defend him.

What a silly thing to say.

That’s certainly the appropriate reaction if one is in a position to prosecute violations of the law.

Another comment on what everyone is likely thinking: if you get called a racist a lot, it probably has nothing to do with who is in the Oval Office. It’s far more likely that you say racist things, so people think you’re a racist.

Why are you guys feeding this obvious troll?

I deign to call him a sock.

You mean when something like this happened?

The Republicans administration lost as many as 22 million emails. 22 million.

What an ignorant thing to say.

In my 10 years on this board, I have come across very few posters with an affinity for Hillary. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few; one of whom I suspect will become very vocal over the next year and a half.

Me? I must admit I don’t care for Hillary. Oh, I plan to support her bid for the presidency, but I choose to believe I am really voting *against *the Republicans (plural) rather than for Hillary. I happen to believe Hillary is not right for this country as she is too much of a hawk for my liking and will probably take a much more confrontational stance in foreign affairs than Obama has, which concerns me. However, my deepest concerns about Hillary pale in comparison to those about any of the announced and unannounced crop of potential candidates from the Republican side.

As I have stated before, I’d rather have Warren run, even though I truly believe she would not win. At least with Warren, I’d have someone to vote and canvas for and be enthusiastic about. But Warren’s not in it, Hillary is, and Hillary can win so, for better or worse, Hillary will get my vote.

What are you talking about? Big O has had the most transparent administration in history. He said so. Why would Big O lie?

The Republicans, like Hillary, had nothing to hide.

Jesus, Haberdash and his ilk are literally like children. “Nuh-uhhh”. Over and over and over again.

I voted for Obama, not because of some “cult of personality” but because the alternatives you guys keep putting up are crazy bags of poo. In truth MY presidential candidate has never come up. There has never been a cult of personality because no one has ever really said the things I want!

It’s especially shiny that in the other thread people like Stringbean think that Hillary appealing to non-white males is somehow a “demographic war”. Yeah that makes me super welcome to live in this country I’ve been in since I was four fucking years old.

I’m another one who is voting more against the Republicans. I cannot in good conscience vote for a side that is demonstrably ignorant and racist about women and minorities, both of which I am.

Why hasn’t Haberdash been warned against trolling? Or is trolling allowed in the Pit, I can’t remember precisely what the rules are.

Elections are always about real people and the really possible. You have a responsibility to pick the best real person for the job based on real-world considerations, and accept that none of the available choices is pure or ideal.

If you want a progressive viewpoint to govern the Executive Branch, with all of the defects and slipups and hypocrisies and compromises that inevitably come with getting the real-world possible really done, then you have to pick the candidate who will do that the best from among those who can actually win. There’s no real debate about who that is this time. If HRC wasn’t in it, that candidate would be somebody else, but remember what I said about the real world?

WTF? Yes, I agree this administration has had an appalling lack of transparency, especially given the promises made during the campaign.

Another issue I have with Obama (the president, not the OP) – during the campaign, he basically promised that there would be no mandate to buy insurance, undercutting Clinton’s more reality based statement that you would need a mandate in order to get rid of prohibitions on existing conditions. Of course, he was wrong and the ACA requires everyone to get insurance. I’m OK with the ACA, but it was pretty underhanded to take that stand during the campaign. Anyone who knows anything about national healthcare knows you need to require everyone to buy it in order to avoid the death spiral.

Only if she shared.

Well, except for the penis.
