Why put another poster on one’s “ignore” list?

I couldn’t help but read the last few words in a certain voice.

I knew when I posted this that you would do some sort of “analysis” on it.

I think you’re not interested in sharing ideas or debating something. You’re only interested in starting an argument. You’ve deliberately been making inflammatory statements throughout this thread in an attempt to get people angry enough to attack you. I’m sorry, I’m not going to play your game. I have better things to do.

Well, at least I’m one of the HIGHEST order. That, I would think, is preferable to being one of the lowest, eh?

Nope, nope, nope. I always have acknowedged others’ parsings.

The cranio-recto lodging is best attributed to yourself! Look back through your posts!

Oh, I’m involved in lots of threads. Is “Og” your God? Pray, pray, and pray away!

And as well you should!

Well, of course I’d take a look at it. That’s what I do,:wally. I peruse others posts; I don’t ignore them. Isn’t that clear, already?

I doubt that you have better things to do. You don’t want to “play” what you perceive as a game? Don’t play it!

I just figured it out. Why is drmark2000 so upset about the ignore list? Because as a resident of Nine Mile Falls, he gets ignored by those of us in Spokane all the time. It’s OK, dude, we still appreciate your tax dollars whenever you buy a car, see a movie, or visit the hospital.

Yeah, while you dismiss them.

Good lord, is this thing still going?

drmark, Why do I feel like I’m addressing Dr. Laura? Are you a radio talk show host? And why do they all use Dr. and then their first names? The “Dr.” is an honorific, I’m assuming the first name is meant to put us at ease…talk about conflicting messages! But I digress… I’m afraid you are just going to have to take some of us at our word that we really are telling the truth. This really is the way we feel. It amounts to that little bit of axle grease in a complicated social machine. It keeps us from rubbing each other the wrong way too frequently. Perhaps you like to be rubbed the wrong way. If so, that’s your kink. But deriding someone for their preference of who to listen to or read is rather like deriding them for disliking the color green. Sure, it’s silly. But it’s their preference. You’ve asked for the reasons why, and you’ve been given several. Whether or not you find them satisfactory doesn’t particularly matter; they are still valid reasons to the people who’ve given them. If you still cannot accept that, then I would suggest the fault does not lie with the people who’ve taken time to respond.

I am interested, however, in how you could go from finding these boards “invaluable” on page one to “like grinding through thousands of tons of ore to derive a button-sized amount of gold.” on this page. Considering all the “invaluable” information you find here, you must spend a boat load of time mining.

Okay, but you guys have to live in Spokane, while I get to live in Nine Mile Falls. I’ll take the trade-offs.

Yep, and the fact kind of surprises me, too. It looks to be on its last legs; still, it creaks on. Something about this thing, something about it…

Why DO you feel that way, Maureen? No, I host no talk radio shows. I was offered one, once, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it (Oh, and the money was gooooood). Why did I decline, you ask? Because I’ve just got too much integrity.

Again, I’m not a “media shrink.” The handle derived from a quick response to the request to provide a screen name, nothing more. That one went through, so that’s what I went with. Now, Dr. Laura, Dr. Phil, THOSE’RE scary!

Oh, yes.
Oh, yes.
You DO digress.

(a drmark2000 original)

Believe you me, I take you all at your word. It’s just that some of the words are unutterably depressing.

This “social machine” you speak of, it requires the application of the literal slime of the Earth in order to to keep you from “rubbing each other the wrong way”? Well, I guess whatever keeps your axles greased is alright by me, but I’ll take a machine that just runs well.

I’ve always preferred to be rubbed the right way but, you know, I’m a guy.

Not exactly, but I see your point.

Uh, huuuuhhhhhhhh…?

I find the answers I’ve received neither satisfactory nor unsatisfactory. They are the answers I’ve received, that’s all. I’ve posed questions about the answers themselves, and been accused of various kinds of malicious intent. This tells me something significant about the responders, their confidence in their own beliefs, and their intellectual integrity.

It’s the button of gold that’s invaluable (METAPHORCALLY speaking). The amount of time spent to derive it is only that. These boards do quite well on strictly factual stuff, and I learned quickly where I could get a non-stick pan recoated and how to get a decal off my car with relative ease. On the less concrete matters, well, here we are. Boards imitate life, as it were.

Many aspects of reality often are.

snerk No. Actually, it’s from something Heinlein once wrote. That society is like a big machine, and good manners (using honorifics, being polite to each other) is the grease that keeps that machine from building up too much friction and self destructing. I tend to see the ignore feature in much the same way.

You do have a tendency to see the more negative and dark aspects in posts. That’s interesting.

drmark2001, perhaps you should examine what that says about you.

Hey, everyone, I’ve got great news! Since being placed on the ignore lists of so very many posters, I’ve continued to post, and have found the overall content of the responses all the more helpful. I guess you losers who ignore others’ posts just might have something, there!

Still, I somehow regret the loss of information. I guess it’s just me…

Stupidest and most pointless thread resurrection ever.

Locked.
