Hmph. I taught myself not to react the way I was supposed to during my birth. When the obstetrician spanked me, I bit him.
No, I’m not.
Oh, that “vast majority” crapola. As if the vast majority are entitled to dictate to others, or others required to submit to the majority.
No.
That’s the second time I’ve been baited to “psychoanalyze” someone. Hey, I sympathize with your plight, but that’s your work, and not appropriate to boards such as these. There are plenty of websites and other resources designed to help you. Google away.
Sure, of course, the burden falls on all of us. Was that necessary to point out?
This latent hostility says a great deal about you, ETF, you should look further into that.
I don’t think there’s anything latent about it. She writes limericks, for heaven’s sake!
Again, do you have no idea of what pesonal accountability means? Calling someone insecure and defensive does indeed mean those things. Whether or not you intend to, you should take stock of your actions.
Nice strawman, did you make it yourself?
You don’t have to ‘submit’ to anybody, but only a fool refuses to consider their audience and their audence’s reaction to their words. If you’re getting that reaction from the vast majority, you can either think long and hard about what you’re doing that might cause that (and after long thought, you might indeed conclude that you’re not to blame), or you can reflexively blame everybody who gets upset.
Awww, but it would save time, and people would know what to expect.
Again, Smarmy Asshole, you’ve been doing that all thread. Nobody baited you, you just decided to be a smarmy asshole, and then whinged about how ‘diagnosis’ means something specific, even though you were obviously ‘diagnosing’ many people… all this talk about people’s ‘real’ motivations, and such.
Again, accountability, Smarmy.
Oh, and, by the way, suggesting that my displeasure of your constant mind reading bullshit means I need to see a counselor? That’s exactly what you’re being accused of, whether it’s tongue in cheek or not, and personally I tend to doubt that it is. And doing it while you’re denying it aint exactly smart. But then again, I’m beginning to think that you aint either.
Yes, because although you’re now claiming to understand it, you sure as hell aint acting as if you understand it. But I’m sure you can tell what that “says about me”, right?
That’s the second time the word “diagnosis” has been used in regards to content in my posts! I’m getting the impression that my being a psychologist underlies some of the reactions I’ve received.
Everyone is in the habit of hiding things from everyone else, but that’s beside the point. My point all along has been that there is relatively little reason for people to have to hide anything in a venue such as this. That’s one reason that I like it so much. I don’t think that picking up on, and pointing out, significant aspects of the words one chooses is any great problem. You just did it; I just answered to it.
Every experience that I’ve ever had ties into my own posting style, and that of anyone else. This is simply a given. I am a psychologist. I’ve also painted houses, taken extended backpacking trips, learned some carpentry, worked as a mail clerk, and participated in the research on how a certain university could improve student retention after the freshman year. And so many other things. SD asks for “profession,” and I reported it as such.
What agenda have I tried to hide; in your opinion, I mean.
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand exactly what you mean by this statement.
I have stated more than once that I acknowledge the validity of some, though not all, of the data I’ve received
“Diametrically opposite“? I think that would be hard to judge in a matter such as this. Differing, certainly. As I have already stated repeatedly, I have acknowledged the validity of several others’ viewpoints.
Yeh! Wanna make somethin’ out of it?
:: glares fiercely ::
Partly, but not totally. Perhaps it had more to do with telling me how I feel than it did with your occupation. Also, as a nurse, I use the word “diagnosis” frequently; as I mentioned, our occupations to tend to color our posting styles.
Some would say that. Others would say “bollocks.”
And I’m sure we all look forward with eager anticipation to hear of your experiences in that field. Those of us who have not put you on ignore lists, that is.
I’m sure I could not begin to say. As you’ve sidestepped most questions about you and how you view things, it’s difficult to understand why you would continue to post in a manner which you’ve been told by multiple parties is considered to be condescending and…um…oh, yes, “smarmy”, when you profess that that is not your intent. It certainly beggars the question of what your intent might be.
Precisely.
And your findings are?
Are you really this stupid?
Did you teach yourself to transcend introspection, honesty and the ability to read your own posts after you transcended being bored?
(That after you’d been given specific reasons which certainly weren’t about disagreeing with opinions.)
No, actually; I nicked it off www.howtodealwithpassiveagressivedickheadsusingfancyprose.com. Awfully handy website. Who knew they’d have something so apt?
Shucks, thanks. Did you read sarcasm into my verse, though? Goodness. Perhaps you should examine what this says about you.
I’m just a giving kinda guy. A veritable Pez dispenser of warm fuzzies, that’s me.
Goodness me, are you suggesting that I think there’s some sort of coordinated campaign against you? Gosh, that sounds awfully paranoid. Perhaps you ought to think about what this says about you.
Gosh, this psychobobblies thing is fun, isn’t it?
Ah, you are correct. I suppose that would purely be each person’s own perspective. However, I think most here are taking issue with the fact that even though you might have noted a difference, it doesn’t appear (to them) that you truly acknowledge it as valid. In my humble opinion, of course.
Thank you for your answer though.
A most impressive effort in collecting quotations, Joycean in its scope!
Now, back to Howth Castle, with ya, and all of its Environs! “The keys to. Given! A way a lone a last a loved a long the”
and so on and, another 628 pages later, so on…
But Joyce is beautiful. Like music to read.
Damnit, the link doesn’t work! Could you repost it?
“Psychobobbly(ie?)“ all you wish, if that’s your wish.
Blah blah blah.
So you still going to maintain your ignorance as to why your posts have been read as smarmy psychoanalysis?
YOU’VE read my posts as such. Now, you must stop attributing your own perceptions to all others. This is called projection. It is often considered a sign of paranoia.
Okay, now I know what you are, without a doubt.
I will not be responding to you again.
I’m mildly curious. Have you read any opinions of your posts in this thread that have not agreed with FinnAgain’s opinion? In other words, is there any evidence here that his perceptions are not shared by all others?
BWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!
Your posting style certainly tells me a lot about you.
Am I the only one who disbelieves drmark2000’s claimed profession?
