Why teh?

You mean it r0x0rz ur b0x0rz?
…**teh ** which obviously is standing in for **the **- but why?
You are obviously a better typist than I. I’m about 10% “teh” and have been since I learned (sorta) to type 40 years ago. It’s just faster to correct on a computer.
Ah! I’ve obviously got to get more hip and groovy to teh scene, man.

Now that you understand, buy teh shirt and spread teh word. (Scroll to bottom of page)

Dunno about anyone else, but I’m more of a hte person myself…

As long as it doesn´t sUx0rZ I´m fine :stuck_out_tongue:

I typo “teh” all the time, and it annoys me when I do it.

Why nto?
If used enough, alternate spellings becomes legitimate spellings. So, if clear communication is not compromised, why not accept alternate spellings? If “colour” is okay, why not “reciept” or “tounge”? Instead of slapping a child’s hand whenever they type “teh”, let’s encourage it as a legitimate word and start saying “the / teh” interchangeably.

What is “teh suxors”? I’ve seen that lots of times.

'Cause colour is the way it´s spelled on that island that also speaks English  The others are not quite the same.

Well ‘colour’ is standard (British) English, while ‘reciept’ and ‘tounge’ are standard Dumbf*ck English.

Only if you allow the establishment to beat this convention into you. Why not be open-minded?

While we’re here … where did roxors/suxors some from? More specifically: why the “ors” at the end? Surely not a typo?

If something is “teh suxors” (though preferably in 1337) it blows.

It would for example be “teh suxors” if I missed the bus or something similar.

I’m guessing it came from hackers -> haxors.

How did suxors originate?

And what is 1337?

I’ve never done this before.

Thanks a lot, Rubarb. Now I’m pining for one of those ‘Evolution Kills’ shirts.

Only if you want to be able to read other people’s writing fairly easily. Try reading English texts from Shakespeare’s day, before English spelling became as standardized as it is today. The more variant spellings there are the harder it is to read a text smoothly.

Where do you draw the line? Why accept “reciept” and not receet, reeseet, recyt, receitp, and so on?
