None of the above. He was asked to speak becauseas a favor to a big donor to the temple was also a big donor to his campaign. I think he actually was asked to speak about his support of Israel, which is kind of a big deal in the Jewish community. I don’t think Israel was actually mentioned, except in passing.

I also recall a clip of Senator McCain being very unhappy about those ads as well. Well, until he agreed to stump for him, that is. Don’t know anything else about the guy, at all. And when I heard about it in the first place neither party was mentioned, so I was unaware of his party affiliation until recently. So, no, you’re not correct about this assumption.

I don’t see the principle behind your point here. If it’s ok to run ads comparing one’s opponent to Osama Bin Laden, I don’t see why veterans (or wounded veterans) should be immune from such an attack.
Similarly, if it’s ok for draft dodgers to run ads attacking wounded veterans, I don’t see why it’s particularly scummy for them to compare their opponenets to Osama Bin Laden.

Let’s look at a few examples, and see if we can deduce the principle from those.
A draft dodger should never run for office unless it’s Clinton. You can’t attack a war hero when he runs for office unless it’s McCain. If someone says something stupid in the course of a campaign, this is a big deal unless it’s Biden. If you have ever associated in any way with hatemongers, that’s terrible except for Obama. Unsubstantiated accusations of sexual harassment are nothing except if it’s Clarence Thomas. Obviously false accusations of misconduct during military service are a horrible thing unless it’s Bush. It’s sexist to tell a woman she shouldn’t be trying for a top level executive job because the needs of her family should come first unless it’s Sarah Palin.

I honestly have no idea what you’re asking for here. Such an ad was produced. Some people condemned it, some liked it. I provided a quote upthread of someone chortling over the ad. Googling “Bush Hitler” yields 1 and a half million hits, including pages like this and this and this. What the hell are you asking for a cite of?
