OK the latest and greatest trolling goof, William Strunk Jr was just banned. I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but what was the final straw? What pushed the mods over the edge?
In the future, can the final thread be transferred to the Pit so we can say farewell to the fuckwit? Some of the trolls are so offensive that they are entertaining and I don’t think it’s fair for us to not get the closure we need. It could be like a roast of the banned person (except real roasts are done for people you like and respect).
Yeah, he was a troll. When he wasn’t having fun with his pointlessly extreme threads in GD and the Pit, he had a deliberate fuck around with the “tell a story one sentence at a time” thread.
I think it was because he was a sock. According to Pliny was just banned, as well, apparently for having more than one screen name.
I am now wondering if According to Pliny was Strunk, and also if he was Quentin S. Smith, who is currently under investigation, or if Quentin is someone else. I believe that Quentin’s claim that he is in fact PRR is bogus.
As I understand it, attention-seeking trolls like that not only are banned but, as far as possible without undoing the continuity of the space-time continuum, their, er, contributions to the board are removed as well as their posting presence, and TPTB request no further attention be paid to them since that is, in fact, what enticed them to crawl out from under their rock in the first place.

I am interested to know why Eleusis’ Pit thread “To Liberal: I’m not pitting you…I’m just confused” was locked. Apparently, it was due to the investigation into Quentin’s identity, but he didn’t really have much to do with that thread, as I recall. I think it should be re-opened.
Wow **Pliny ** was a long term poster. That is a big surprised. Any reason to believe beyond timing it was related to the QSS & Strunk bannings? They appeared to be obvious trolls and probable socks.
I also think QSS was just a trying to stir things.
I think the mods are hoping the Lib thing will sink for a while. That thread had less to do with **liberal ** after a while than another new poster.
I know but, dammit, some of them are just so much fun to screw with!
I know that the names of many banned posters are brought up a lot in other threads and disparaging things will be said about them (sorry, I can’t give specific examples now) in reference to the current behavior of some “live” poster. It seems like we should be allowed to say one final FOAD to a troll and then they can be cast adrift.
I have to say, I have kind of been expecting to hear that another poster (not PRR) was going to be banned for being either Strunk, QSS, or both.
From the very first threads of theirs (which showed up on the same day, I believe), with the provacative subject matters and the rather obvious name references that could point to PRR (skeptic and English professor that he is), I figured it was either him (that’s what I thought at first), or someone who wanted everyone to THINK they were him. Decided after a while that it was definitely the latter. Couldn’t figure out who that would be, and would never have guessed According to Pliny.
For what it’s worth: On another, SDMB-related board where I’m a member, According to Pliny was an infrequent and unremarkable poster until the last couple of months, when he began tossing some jarringly unpleasant bombshells into threads. He’s still there but hasn’t posted in the last few days. Maybe something’s going on in his life that’s set him off into mopery, dopery, and multiboard jerkdom?
Speaking only for me, Jodi, at this point I’m just wandering around with a dazed expression, muttering “Huh? Wha?” while trying to make sense of it all.

I’m pretty sure she is guessing. **Pliny **was banned an hour before **QSS **outed himself. I reported his post, and about ten minutes later **QSS **was banned.
