Why was the Geno thread closed?

I’m familiar with the Genos, having once been one. 8^) A thread where they are explaining their faith was closed with little explanation. Since this was in the forum that is designated for witnessing, I’m a bit confused.

OK, I just read the other geno thread that was linked to and it offers SOME explanation…but it still seems unfair. For one thing, the sock-puppet accusations against them are NOT true, and I thought accusing someone of being a sock-puppet was a serious offense here. Someone posted a question about the Genos, and they showed up to share information about their faith. I don’t get it.

So far as I could tell, there was no debate in those threads. No debate, no place in GD.

(Well, okay, Geno1223 wanted to discuss his religion, but the rest of the posts were pretty pointless.)

If you want to talk about your faith, that’s fine. But the way they did it was obnoxious, and detracted from any credibility they might have had. Really, I’d rather them do an “Ask the Geno!”-type thread than do what they did.

If you’re talking about HolyGamer’s OP… do you really think that by sheer coincidence, the Geno crew just so happened to stumble upon the question?
As far as the whole sock-puppeting business… how can you be sure they’re not sock-puppets? (I’m not saying this justifies the accusation in any way, I’m just wondering how you can be so sure. Do you know these guys personally?)

Was there a religion being discussed? Sounded more like some sort of l33t gamerz psycho bullshit to me.

It could be a coincedence, as the forum where I learned of the Genos shares quite a few posters with this one.

Hey **Badtz **, I read the threads linked to here, and I’m confused! What the hell ARE the grays/genos?

I closed the thread because it looked a lot like a group of friends deciding to yank the Doper’s chains a little, and GD isn’t the place for that (I don’t know if their is a place for it, but maybe the MPSIMSers would have found it entertaining; the GDers and myself all seemed to think it was just annoying). I thought it was unlikely that through sheer coincidence a group of grays and gray-haters all started having their little tiff at the same time and place, and there certainly wasn’t any debating going on. As for the “witnessing”, the gray’s descritions of their religion made it appear to be pure bullshit; I mean, seriously, eating “grey-flavored Pop Tarts and Path-approved Grey Nuts cereal”? Can’t they just practice ritual cannibalism like any normal religion?

A made-up religion OP might be acceptable in GD, as long as it at least made some sense and was debated seriously, or, if not debated seriously, was entertaining enough that I thought it was worth keeping anyhow. If it is a real faith, well, as of this morning none of the grays have yet seen fit to email me, so why should I reopen the thread? If you want to witness/debate on the behalf of the grays, Badtz, feel free; I won’t lock the thread if I believe it is sincere.
