FTR: No, I didn’t bother e-mailing any mods or admins, because I’m not stupid, and I pay attention. I read Lynn’s warning to him two weeks ago, and I’ve been here long enough that I know how the system works, and criminy, there he was, stepping high, wide, and handsome all over GQ. It would have been an amazement to me if he hadn’t been banned.
Prescient? Is it “prescient” to look out the window, see storm clouds gathering, and say, “Hmm, I predict it’s going to rain”?
Also, I have never heard, or read, in the entire time I’ve been here at the SDMB, even a single instance of a poster being banned just because someone requested it. You must have a remarkably jaundiced and cynical view of the mods and admins, Izzy, if you think they’re such wusses that they would ban someone just because there was a request on the table.
Shall we test it? Shall I e-mail Tuba or Lynn and ask that you be banned? Shall I flex my seniority muscle and see just how much weight I can swing around?
You know what would happen? I do. Tuba would send me a polite little e-mail saying,
And that would be all that would happen. Lynn probably wouldn’t be as polite.

Well, I for one, am a bit sorry to see which straw it was that broke the camel’s back. I apparently have the dubious honor of being the last non-moderator to respond to one of his posts. And all he was doing was trashing Clinton. Now I liked the Clinton Administration, but I certainly understand that some folks don’t, and I like to think that the Clinton administration was the last Administration that you could freely trash in this country.
I’m personally trying to get myself banned so that I can get my life back.
FWIW, I seem to remember that red_dragon’s banning slipped under the radar several weeks ago. I could be wrong, though…

People who didn’t like him just worked around him, or ignored him. They didn’t get together and inundate the admins with e-mails demanding that he be banned because “we don’t like him”.

Why, when I think of all the times I’ve started bigoted threads about Jews, and Ragheads, and Niggers, and using illegal steroids, and rap music causing teenage pregnancy, and here I’ve got the unmitigated gall to point my finger at WB for the same thing, I could just cry.

The cite I provided proves my point, that WB was banned, in Lynn’s own words, for trolling. Not because she “didn’t like him”, but because he was trolling.
Well, you got us dead to rights, Izzy. It’s the Straight Dope Cabal at work. I lied in my post above–we all e-mailed Lynn this afternoon and ordered her to ban WB, and thus the fell deed was done.
Seriously, though, if you’re interested, which I doubt, this comment doesn’t mean “half a dozen posters asked me to ban WB”. What it means is, half a dozen posters, all of whom she respected, had been asking her to look hard at WB for, literally, months, ever since he registered–and no, FTR, I wasn’t one of them.
Can you get it through your head that you cannot deliberately make these addditions (just because, merely because etc.) to people’s positions as you restate them? Or are you being deliberately dishonest? In any event, you are requested to stop. If I mean to say “just because” or the like, I will say so myself.
You can trash the Clinton administration all you want, DP–just not in General Questions. 
His last post was earlier today, actually. No clue what brought it on, that post wasn’t particularly inflammatory. shrug

Red_Dragon60 posted to this thread today. So I guess he was banned today for some reason. I did a quick search and did not find anything, and since he had been a member since 03-23-2000 and had over 1000 posts, I know he wasn’t a sock. Maybe the mods will illuminate us on that one.

I find your last post remarkably dense. I can’t decide if you are dishonest or simply not too bright. Either way, from my perspective, your post is so lacking in any merit that I am at a loss over how to make it any more obvious than it already is.
If there is anyone who thinks that DDG has made any legitimate response in her post, please help me see what it might be.
I argued with Bill a few times in the Pit, but overall I only encountered him in IMHO. He always made me laugh out loud in there. My favorite thread was along the lines of…“I was driving home, speeding excessively, squealed wheels around several corners at high speed, burned some rubber, and ran four red lights, AND five cops pulled me over and roughed me up! Can you believe that! Did those cops infringe on my rights?!” I think he failed to mention he was drunk and packing a semi-automatic as well.
Hilarity, I tell you. Hilarity.
During the 2000 election I was convinced he was actually Dubya, but now I know better. I’m pretty sure it was an act. I have an image in my mind of Will Ferrell sitting in front of his computer in a wife beater with a joint in one hand and a Bud in the other, laughing his ass off.
