Damn it! I’m trying to load WWII Sniper: Call to Victory on my wife’s machine but when I throw the CD in and click install everything locks up .
She is running an 05’ Dell with all the bells and whistles. I downloaded directx 9 to see if that helped but no, it didn’t. What could possibly be wrong???
Does she have one of those DVD-R/CD-R combo drives? I’ve heard lots of stories about those being super temperamental - locking up on even simple tasks like copying files to the hard disk.
If it locks up on installation this has nothing to do with DirectX. Could be a bad installer. Could be you’re not logged in as administrator. Could be that the drive you try to install into does not have acess rights set to “Everybody” (needed with some rare installs, like Far Cry. Right click the drive: propertis, tab: security, to find out who has access). Could be you’re running a virtual cd program or Nero, with a copy-protection program killing the install. It could be a lot of things.
I think you really need to give us your full computer specs and a better description of the problem.
