Heh. Just got this in an email from our community chairperson:
Poor thing! It’s pleasant up here… for humans! That snake will freeze if it goes in the water though. (Well, not really. But the creeks around here aren’t especially warm.) I hope it doesn’t try to stay warm on the blacktop and get run over.
It’ll get into the low-50s tonight. I rode down the main road near where it got loose, on my way to the convenience store. It might get into a drainage ditch, and into a culvert. The area is basically bracken, grass, bushes, cedars, maples, etc. Lots of places for it to hide. A large field has been recently cleared. (So recently I could smell it. IIRC there were trees yesterday evening.) More exposure to the sun, but not long enough for the piles to get warm through decomposition. I sure hope they find it and get it somewhere warm.
Heh my exgirlfriend had a pet snake in her apartment. She had mice in the freezer and would microwave them to seem alive for the snake’s feeding time. One day the snake mysteriously disappeared. I don’t know where it went and no one in the building complained of seeing it but it was amusing to think of the potential for scaring the bejeezus out of the neighbors. Then, one week before she was scheduled to move out, it mysteriously reappeared in the apartment and she was able to take it with her.
