Wife chops off husband's penis and grinds it up in garbage disposal

I think it’s also the gross-out factor. Not just her cutting it off but throwing it in the garbage disposal?

No dumbass, BigT has to come in and lecture us about how mean we are to those who DON’T find it funny, and that we should respect that feelings. Not that we should tell them to fuck off. Jesus Christ, you’re retarded.

I literally just did a spit take. No lie.

This thread and the bad jokes was started first. The rest in the pit was likely posted as an example that if If slicing off a man’s dick is funny. Anything violent done to anyone, anyhow should be just as funny.

You see people in the pit flying off the handle before this posted because some guy called women** fat **skanky ass at the gym.

Slicing off a man’s dick funny. What’s sad is I know it’s not just women making the jokes.

I’m so tired I’m about to pass out at my desk, so if someone else could please school this moron with a series of links that show us reacting to many prior RO threads with tasteless jokes, I’ll PayPal them a dollar.

Whats an RO thread ?

RO = recreational outrage, i.e., a news story that gets you pissed off but doesn’t directly affect you in any way.

Well, other than the sympathy cringes from the guys in this one.

Yeah, much of the time it stands for Resist Opening.

You are missing the point.

As I said earlier, you can get your fill of jokes about men being raped and mutilated from Jay Leno.

Jokes like that are widely considered not to be edgy at all; not to be gallows humor. Genital mutilation of girls, while a source of guffaws for some in private, is not widely considered to be an acceptable topic for humor in non-edgy settings (such as Leno). Same with baby rape.

That is the point of disagreement: is there anything troubling about the rape and mutilation of men being a standard topic of non-edgy humor? Does this reveal anything about popular attitudes towards the rape and mutilation of men, and is the prevalence of prison rape and the lack of efforts to curb it related to those attitudes?

I think this is a reasonable concern. It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with this thread, but I also don’t think you can reasonably argue that jokes about men being raped and mutilated are equivalent to jokes about women and babies being raped and mutilated. One of those jokes can be told in the most non-edgy of settings, while the others are clearly gallows humor.

Pretty sure people are *also *okay with women being raped in prison. It’s not that they think that rape of a man is acceptable so much as they think that being convicted of a crime strips you of humanity and rights. Whole 'nother issue altogether.

Of course they’re okay with women being raped in prison. That’s sexy donchaknow.

But women being raped in prison is not a standard topic of non-edgy humor (a standard topic of porn is another matter).

Jay Leno doesn’t joke about women being raped in prison in his opening monologue.

If he did tell such jokes, and the audience did react positively, then it would also be reasonable to find that a little troubling (assuming Leno’s increasing reliance on rape jokes was not part of a transformation into a shock comic). But I suspect the audience would not react as positively if he were to do so, and that that is why he doesn’t tell them. Instead, jokes about women being raped are relegated to edgier settings.

I think the fact that you have to qualify your argument with the term ‘non edgy humor’ is costing you here.

What people consider ‘edgy’ is subjective. While Leno is considered pretty mild, if he were to tell a joke about male prison rape I would consider that pretty edgy. I would say, “Well, look at Leno, being all edgy.” instead of, “Oh, Leno doing male rape jokes proves that male rape jokes is non-edgy humor”.

Family Guy comes on at primetime hours and they sure don’t shy away from woman-abuse/rape jokes. Are they edgy? Perhaps. But they are a cartoon. On in primetime.

This whole ‘non edgy humor’ qualifier is sounding very “No True Scottsman” to me. If we post examples of woman rape humor, you will say, “Ah, but that’s *edgy *humor. Man rape jokes are told with a non edgy tone.”

So, no. I reject your argument.
Edgy.

Just felt I needed to say that word one more time. I hadn’t said it enough in this post.

Wasn’t it Leno that joked about John Edwards (statutory) raping Sarah Palin’s daughter? Edgy?

That was Letterman who made the joke, and it wasn’t about Edwards, it was some athlete - a baseball player, I believe.

Actually, as far as I can tell upon a quick search, Letterman told two jokes, one about Elliot Spizter, and one about Alex Rodriguez with Palin’s daughter.

But Leno and Conan both told essentially the same joke about John Edwards being responsible for the Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Though it seems any actual video of Leno doing so has been thoroughly scrubbed from the internet.

Here’s Leno’s joke according to ABCnews.com:

Here’s a link showing Fox’s Hannity and Mike Huckabee criticizing Letterman for his jokes, saying that Leno would never say that, followed by the same transcript of Leno’s joke from above, followed at the end by video of Conan’s version of the same basic joke.
