Will I Be The First To Start The MMP?

Hey y’all! Well, the week is more than half over, I’m starting to think I just might survive until the weekend. Had my interview this morning, was expecting an offer to be honest but it was just the same old questions I had already answered in my last three interviews. Apparently the job posting received about 500 applicants and it is now narrowed down to myself and one other person, so I suppose I’ll have an answer one way or the other before long.

Dinner was super yummy and super easy - a beef roast in the crockpot, gravy, potatoes and green beans with garlic bacon bits.

Congrats on the publicity, Rebo!

FCM, that sounds like a lovely celebration, congrats on your retirement!

Swampy, you’re making my mouth water. Papa John’s just might have to be on the menu this weekend. The first apartment the Fearless Husband and I lived in together was across from a Papa Johns, which was next door to a liquor store. I can’t imagine why so many Friday night suppers were pizza and beerverages.

MOOOOOOOM, I hope he’s got small feet. 50g, indeed. (And worsted yarn makes fabulous hiking socks! :D)

swampy, CHILI?! Boy, it is the middle of the summer! Kids these days.

Fearless Leader, 500 applicants for one position? Either there was a monster.com blowout, or I do not envy you for whatever field you’re in.

I think dinner will be provided by either Kellogg’s or General Mills tonight. I don’t feel like moving excessively or adding one single joule of kinetic energy to the air in this house.

Just got home from taking my pharmacy tech certification exam. Have I ever mentioned how much I love standardized tests? I was in and out before my test was actually scheduled to begin, although I did have to miss a cookout to go. More importantly, I’m missing homemade peach ice cream. Hooray bonus time for me! I think I’ll buy an ice cream maker. And off to update my resume, hopefully I can go find a better-paying job and relegate this one to part-time status.

chaoticbear, CPhT (:p)

Howdy all. Congrats **MMOMM **indeed!

Swampy bed was so wonderful i did stay in it all day sleeping and searching the dope…well i did have cramps. I nearly wet my new bed reading the thread about “How do you hang”. Very funny stuff that.

Supper was pork tenderloin, corn on the cob, green beans, sweet potatoes and rice and gravy. I’m Stuffed…ha

Mika I dream of my dear departed Mother often and she’s been gone for almost 11 years. I miss her so much. Funny, i never dream of dear old Dad Wonder why?

I know Swampy and Bbobbio both have birthdays this weekend so Happy Birthday guys.

Rosie’s sig to all!

Back from dinner with former coworker. It was good to see him again, altho my nephew was bored. Oh well…

Off to bed with me. Shorter day tomorrow since I’m burning my last 2 hours of credit time. So close…

It sounds like they had a very nice “do” for you, FCM. I am extremely envious that you finally get to go. The way I feel right now, I wouldn’t even come close to tears if I was leaving. I’d be floating five feet off the ground and grinning ear to ear!

However, it’s nice knowing that I have the option of going in a little less than 9 years. I’ll probably end up waiting until my husband can retire, which is another two years beyond that, but we’ll see. Hell, the way those idiots in Congress are acting, I may not have a job to retire from.

It’s been a hell of a week. I am dog-tired. At least tomorrow is my Friday.

I’ve got to get dinner going. Traffic was truly awful so I was really late getting home this evening. Hubby has decided he’d like some spaghetti. I really don’t, but what the hell, it’s not that hard to make.

My parents are still around, but I do dream about my FiL who passed in the 90s. He pops up in my dreams every so often.

Off to make some s’gettis.

Just got back from an awesome dinner at the steakhouse for my son’s birthday. 27 years old on the 27th!

I met his girlfriend and her 6 year old daughter. I got them both small gifts, and bought ReboSon a nice chef’s knife.

It was a lot of fun.

I am stuffed.

So I just went to buy a soda from the machine, and it went KLON KLON KLON KLON KLON as it discharged all the sodas of that brand it had left. I’m told it does it most often with the water bottles (which are also the best seller). I was able to take them all out, so people who want to buy something else can do it (as well as having the possibility of grabbing a soda).

Anybody want one? The cans are a bit beat up but otherwise fine.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92 and so they say, rain. It probably will rain today just cause I prefer it didn’t as I wanna mow this evenin’.

Nava waaaaaaaaaay back in the day in college we had a soda machine that would do that too. Remember this was waaaaaaaaay back and this particular machine dispensed those six and a half ounce bottles of Coca-Cola. [sup]TM[/sup] Sometimes you put money in the machine and you’d get two or three Cokes. I had the pleasure of watchin’ it give up the Ghost. I was in the student center with some friends and it started to make a really loud rattlin’ noise and a bottle of Coke dropped. Cool free Coke! One of my friends got it. A few seconds later it did it again. Then again. Then, little bottles of Coke started droppin’. We were grabbin’ bottles and settin’ ‘em on a table cause they kept comin’. It was a hoot! It didn’t stop until it emptied itself. Alas poor Coke machine!

Thanks for the early bday wish Stuffed!

Happy belated Reboson birthday!

Ok, off to find more caffiene and feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas irk purtification must commence.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Waaaaaayyyy back when I was in college, someone figured out the resonant frequences of the vending machines and that it they rocked the machines at that frequency, they’d get free goodies. Never underestimate the abilities of bored engineering students!

I was in a night class that was punctuated with BAM! WHUNK! BAM! BAM! WHUNK! BAM BAM! WHUNK! BAM! BAM! WHUNK!.. as someone was rocking the candy and pop machines in a nearby lounge.

It was a pretty boring lecture, so we all (including the prof!) moseyed over and found the floor littered in pop cans and all sorts of chips and candies. The perpetrators had evaporated, but should have been easy to spot with armloads of munchies. The front half of the snack machine’s spirals were all empty, and I’m sure the pop machine was similarly devoid of pop.

And the whole class had snacks right gotti? There was a soda machine in my high school cafeteria (do hs cafeterias even have soda machines anymore?) that would give you two for one every fifth time as I recall. The entertainment for many a lunch period was watchin’ the machine and the mad rush to it every fifth time somebody got a soda. We were easily amused way back then.

Ahh memories of faded youth!

I have declared it to be movie day at Chez Rebo.

First up: Shawshank Redemption

Also in the queue - Fried Green Tomatoes and Steel Magnolias.

This day off will be spent in a slug-like manner.

Home really early - Al told me to leave, so as soon as I got the rest of the initials on my checkout sheet, I left. All that’s left tomorrow is to turn in my badges at 1030. I’ve got a few people to say goodbye to but that’s all. I’ve brought all my personal stuff home, that is, the stuff I didn’t give to Dave - he got a box of tissues, a partial roll of paper towels, and some ibuprofen from 2008. OK, I think it’s fresher than that - I’m pretty sure I just kept an old bottle and put some new pills in it. Probably. But stale ibuprofen won’t kill you much, right?

Gonna be nasty hot today and nastier hot tomorrow. I think I’ll start my retirement chores by sorting out the crap I brought home and the papers that have been accumulating on my desk here. Easy way to ease into retirement chores, right?

Daughter called a couple of hours ago - they’re on their way to Florida. This will be the first time she’s made the drive herself. At least nephew will keep her company on the way down. Coming back will be rough on her, I’m thinking. I hope nothing happens to her dog or cat while she’s gone because that peach of a boyfriend/roomie of hers doesn’t have a car since he can’t drive.

Did I mention one coworker gave me some chocolate yesterday? I’m thinking I need to sample it to be sure it doesn’t spoil…

Back to work today, unfortunately I can’t be off 7 days a week and still get paid, or so they tell me. And for some reason, I volunteered to work an evening shift tonight. I’m gonna be taaaaahred come tomorrow when I have to get up before dawn again.

Also, I’m supposed to be on the lookout on facebook. One of my mother’s lesbian friends, who has never met me, is trying to set me up with a man that I’ve never met. All my mother knows about him is that he has a nice house. This is the same friend who wanted my semen for IVF a few years ago. I guess my mother is just really good at talking me up to people.

Thiscracked me up! Simple pleasures for simple minds, I guess…

The idea cracks me up, but the execution is short, unless that bird is afraid of grass.

Reminds me of an old Timbuk 3 song called Facts About Cats with the lyric “Cats will be cats and cats eat birds.”

I’m full of GRRR! right now. I had a doctor appointment, so I made all the necessary schedule juggles with work and drove half an hour down the road to their office. I get there to find their waiting area full of air conditioning ducts and ceiling tiles. One of the HVAC guys greets me and says the office is closed today and tomorrow. Supposedly, they called everyone to reschedule, but managed to miss me.

It’s enough to make me want to grab one or more of my new toys and go pay them a visit next week. Think I’ll get their attention if I show up with a 54" broadsword?

The good news is that my grandma’s out of the hospital. She was very cranky so they got her in and out quickly. Let it be known that I take after my grandma’s side of the family in that way.

Last night I made primavera again and Culinary Boy couldn’t stay out of the kitchen. He was teaching me how to do it right, like when to put the different vegetables in so they’d cook properly. He also taught me the right way to hold a knife. I felt very competent as I sliced the squashes and carrots correctly. I wasn’t allowed to chop the tomato, though. Or the garlic. However–and this is worth noting–he let me use his good German steel knife to do the proper form slicing.

I’m glad it’s almost the weekend! Luckily, I work from home Mondays & Fridays, so I won’t see the orafice again until August!

Sounds like you’ve got some good movie watchin’ planned there Dolores! Many happy belated returns for Reboson!

Starting off your retirement with chocolate is definitely inspired thinking there, FCM!

Well, time to grab a re-fill on the lemonade…be well all.

Bri2k

I’ll be leaving shortly to take Taz to the vet to find out why he’s licking himself bald. I hope they can give him something to provide some relief. Poor kitteh.

Daughter is in South Carolina. No idea how far she intends to go tonight, but I can’t see her getting to Ocala. We shall see…

MOOOOOOM did you tell her to stop at a Stuckey’s and get ya a pee-can log? :stuck_out_tongue: Hope the vet figures out sump’n for Taz, poor kitteh.

I’s tahrd! I mowed da yahd and all that good stuff. I was worried for a bit that it would start rainin’ about halfway through but 'twas just a sprinkle.

gotti I would let it be known loud and clear that I was not called to reschedule. The broadsword would just punctuate the fact, so I say go for it!

donkeybear are you officially a Pharmacy Tech or do you have to wait for test results. I ask cause it kinda looks like you took the test and got the results at the same time but I’m not sure. I mean, we have to know whether or not we should be flingin’ confetti yet.

Daughter just got to Jawja. She’s planning to stop in the Jax area and spend the night with a friend, then go to her grandmother’s tomorrow.

Taz has an apparent flea allergy. He got a steroid shot to keep him from biting himself. I need to put some hydrocortisone on his owies. Poor kitteh.

Found out ex SIL is living in TN now and he just got a job packing vegetables. How could my daughter let him go???

Sorry, that was snarky. I’ll go sit in the corner and knit. One more commute to work to go…
