Will Italy leave Iraq after the bombing? What will this mean for US forces?

Well, the Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi SAYS they will. Who knows. I’m not sure about the comittment of the Itialian people to this thing.

Yesterday the tv coverage here was dedicated to the bombing. Berlusconi stated Italy will stay. A handful in parliment demanded Italy pull out but by and large the message (from both left and right) was - this is a time for solidarity, the government has made a decision and it is now that our troops need our support the most. The Italian Red Cross (Croce Rosso) is staying as well.
