I think it’s more likely that her stance gives permission to pro choice voters to vote for Trump.
That is clearly the idea and the reason it is in the news now. But even her “strong support” is a weak rhetorical question.

I sincerely doubt that she’s interested in helping him get elected or even cares. She’s just trying to cash in before she’s no longer relevant.
She does interviews. For cash. Fox has done several with her.

Oh, i suspect you are right that she doesn’t care and is just trying to cash in. But i still think the net effect of her statement is to help Trump a teeny tiny bit.
First we should remember that Melania is the same person who as First Lady of the United States, rolled out a program that she called “Be Best”.
It was ostensibly a program that tried to discourage internet bullying. She seemed oblivious to the fact that her husband is and was the biggest bully on social media.
In light of her own apparent lack of judgment about the sociopath she purportedly lives with, I would not believe anything she said either in person or in writing. But I DEFINITELY would not believe anything in a book she is selling.
Now Melania says that “Be Best” was in response to internet bullying of Barron, after Rosie O’Donnell said that he was on the autism spectrum (which Melania strongly denies). Of course, she still overlooks that Trump is the biggest social media bully.
Oh, I don’t know. I might believe the page numbering, the year of publication on the copyright page, and the name of the publisher. Little else, though.
You know what would sell a bunch of books for Melania? If she filed for divorce next week. I pledge right now to buy her shitty book if she does that.

I don’t feel this is an equivalent situation. Abortion is a very controversial issue with people strongly identified on both sides. (And Trump needs voters on both sides.)
Bullying is not a controversial issue. Nobody, even bullies, is arguing a pro-bullying position. So it’s a nice safe place to take a stand.

It is most likely that her abortion stance is newly acquired and has more to do with selling books than reproductive freedom or health care.
