For anyone who hasn’t seen Ms. Marvel, it’s wonderful.
A great slice-of-NJ/Pakistani/Muslim life (it even answers crucial questions like “Do muslim high school girls get their shoes stolen when they have to take them off to enter the mosque?”)
The Marvels came out right after the actors strike lifted with virtually no promotion but a lot of rather nasty misogynistic smear campaigns against it. It wasn’t a top-tier MCU film (the villain was rather forgettable) but it was a lot better than “Love and Thunder”.
Yeah, the villain was the only problem i had with the movie. Also, I have a hard time deciding if something is actually good or is Iman Vellani’s wholesome enthusiasm so contagious it just makes me think its good. I very much enjoyed the movie, much more than the first Captain Marvel movie which did over a billion.
I went into the movie with high expectations. I really liked both Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel (both the movie/show and the characters). But I turned it off after a half hour or so. It was just a confused mess. Who was where? How did people get from place to place? It just failed, imho, to tell a coherent and comprehensible story.
