Will there be any liberals left here after the conversion to paying site?

Yeah, at least one.

You see, it was a targetted thread, filled with hatred and vitriol to those who try to be working class heros of the common who cannot afford $4.95, but can apparently post about it endlessly with indignation and pride.

Since then, it has transformed into a beautiful butterfly.

You do the martyr thing very well, elucidator. Too bad it doesn’t change the fact that this is a liberal board, for whatever reasons you’d like to surmise.

Oh, come on, now. Back when I was in that market (quite a few years ago, now), all the guys knew that something happened to girls who grew up in conservative (especially Catholic) families when they went away to college. For that reason, they were highly desirable dates…

What a stupid fucking OP.

Say, rather, a beautiful flower, sprung from rich fertilizer.

Could someone puh-leeeeze start some more threads about subscribing?
Pretty please?

Oh, and by the way…

What the serv is a confuckative?

I don’t need reasons, AFD. I’m not surprised, to my mind a Socratic dialogue based on evidence and reason must almost inevitiably lead to a more accepting, hence “liberal” point of view. How am I making claims to “martyrdom” when I’m winning? You are, yourself, a classic example of the perils of an open mind (for which, make no mistake, I commend you). You still don’t like “liberals”, but evidence and argument have compelled you to admit that they are right on certain crucial points. Which is just dandy by me, I don’t come here to be loved, I come here to argue.

I’ve brought this up a bunch to times: if the SDMB is dominated by liberals, how did this come to pass? The closest anyone has come to an answer was friend Scylla, who cobbled together the pathetic rationale that the Reader, being an “underground” paper, naturally attracted the loathesome scum of the Earth, i.e., me. You can sign on to that, if you like, but it’s kinda weak.

So you tell me: how did they do it? Conspiracy? Skullduggery?

As to the OP: here’s one home-grown radical who ain’t going nowhere!

(PS: Conservative lesbian teens knitting sweaters for poodles? Is that out on video?)

So… Any liberals left?

For your edification (sort of)…

I’m sorry - this is Abuse. You want Room 12A.

None with a consistent and heart-felt entitlements philosophy, but is that what you meant?

Is it liberal when you can only get get 2 people to support your worldview or because people have the nerve to question the current administration?

Did it ever occur to you that maybe your opinions, and not everyone else’s here, were the ones that are far from the center? Just a thought.

No, it’s liberal because there is a vast outpouring of support for things like Kerry, who despite what you read here has no better than a 50/50 shot at becoming President, an impression that anyone new to this place would never get from reading a few threads, and other things like gay marriage, which while I support the cause, ideas, and motivation behind it, isn’t playing very well in Peoria and stands a good possibility of being denied by state and federal judiciaries.

I consider myself a moderate conservative. I have my big issue that take me way to the right, but if anything this board has made me realize that there are different, reasonable, and downright correct points of view when compared to what mine were. Frankly, you won’t find too many people more centrist than I am. That being said, from where I sit this board is so liberal I’m surprised it isn’t run by Mother Jones instead of the SDMB.

Either that, or you’re just slanted so far to the right that you think everyone who disagrees with you is a liberal.

But that could never happen, since you’re sooooooooooooooooooo impartial and fair, eh Doors?

Compared to you, I am the very definition of fair and impartial. I can be swayed by a reasonable argument, whereas all you can do is bleat either “Bush sucks” or “PCs suck, Macs are better”.

Come now, Rjung, Airman Doors isn’t fair and impartial, he’s “fair and balanced.” (Sorry, Airman, you know I love ya.)

And, as it happens, Doors happens to be at least partially right–Kerry does have only a 50/50 shot at being president (being that he is one of two serious candidates), and the gay marriage issue can prove to be a liability for the
Dems in the election. Unlike foreign affairs or economic policy, the concept of gay marriage is easily comprehensible and sufficiently disquieting to the average American to be a significant factor in swinging voters to the Party of
God (AKA the Wahabist wing of the GOP).

OK, you got me on that one, but that wasn’t my intent.

Looking at the support Kerry’s getting on the SDMB, you’d think that he was an absolute cinch to win. He’s not. It’ll be close, but it’s by no means over, and certainly not to the tune of 82-18 in Kerry’s favor.

Yes!

Just replying to see “Charter member” under my name. Hey, do we get a secret handshake or something? Maybe a blazer with a  on the pocket?

Last of the liberals checking in.
