Now the second tweet is classic Trump administration, flat out lying and pandering to the already loyal, but the first one seems to me to be a new tack. Are we going to see more attempts at explanations of what he really meant? Seems to me the official guideline so far has been to claim everything he says is obvious and that the media should stop trying to spin it.
If the OP means will he start truthfully explaining his ramblings, the answer is hell no. That would entail saying something like “My statement as to what’s happening in Sweden was the result of me totally misconstruing a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden and somehow remembering it as a story on an actual terrorist event that happened on Friday night. Oh, yeah, and I failed to discuss this with any well-informed person before blabbing about it in public.” Ain’t gonna happen.
I doubt it. He doesn’t need to. A large percentage of his base is satisfied with unsupported, unexplained emotional appeals, with a soupcon of conspiracy theory, served with a side of vilification of the press or some minority.
It is sufficient that they “know” that “something bad” is happening “over there”, and that the brilliant, brave Donald is protecting is from having it happen here.
Think about it. There are apparently many many folk who do not consider Tweety an embarrassment. Folk who were not aghast by his press conference performance. What need do they have for rational explanation? They have been satisfied with Spicer’s/Conway’s “explanations” so far.
In a world of headlines and soundbites, explanations and analysis are overrated.
