The Dutch have a multy political party system. The US has two parties; the Dutch have ten. That makes it easier to see what people would vote if they have more then two options, more then two kinds of “conservative party”.
Our Trump is, strange as it may seem, ALSO a peroxied bold, orange skinned guy, by the name of Geert Wilders. He too used to be a part of the main conservative party before he split off from them 12 years ago. He even went to the RNC and tried to tell Trump how much he admired him) Wilders party, PVV is a protest party with a message of xenophobia and “sticking it to the system”. Wilders gets consistently 15 % of the votes with that message. That makes his party the second to third biggest party.

I’ve been trying to find a term besides tar baby, but it just really fits. And whoever set that tar baby up? Man. I’ve heard commentators talking about the difference in the level of management between the two conventions, how one seemed to reel along which the other was controlled; but whoever invited the Khans to speak showed genius level management.

The problem is, if Khan speaks out, he will be fair game for Trump’s opposition research team. They will find the dirt, dig it up, and try to bury him with it.

But he has spoken out. And the attacks have continued. And the more they reply to the attacks, the more we find out (which we wouldn’t have known without the attacks to respond to), the more gold is uncovered.

The Khans weren’t chosen randomly. The Khans have already been researched to a fair-thee-well by the dems, who weren’t stupid enough to invite a couple with dirt to be dug up to speak at their convention. Anyone digging is going to find gold all the way down.

This was managed. It was front-loaded. The quicksand was spread and Trump could not stop himself from stomping on it. He’s still stomping. As he gets in deeper we’re finding more, such as:

With reservations. I hate, with every fiber in my being, when someone shoves a microphone in someone’s face and asks “What does your suffering feel like?”. If it was totally their idea, they came forward, then, well, that’s different. Sorta. Kinda. Sure hope they knew what they were in for.

All over the world, Muslims are watching what happens to them. So, a good result depends on the worst of us behaving themselves. Worry face.

Testimony refuting Rep. King’s witchhunt included the following from a report by the Christian Science Monitor:

One of King’s stated motives in calling Thursday’s hearing was to demonstrate that the American Muslim community was not cooperating with law enforcement. Georgetown University’s Hoffman says he’s seen no evidence that that is the case. Nor did Republicans present witnesses or new evidence to support the claim.

The only witness from law enforcement called to testify at this hearing was Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, who committee Democrats invited to refute those allegations.

“The Muslim community in Los Angeles is a very active participant in the securing of our homeland,” he told the committee. “These relationships are critical to mitigate a threat or, more importantly, recognize the threat at a stage that a person, or a group, on a wrong path can be righted,” he added.

Often key tips in averting terrorist attacks come from families or the Muslim community, Hoffman says. Since the 9/11 attacks, the FBI and many large urban police forces have gone out of their way to reach out to the Muslim community, he says.

I’m pointing out to you that, as is the case, there’s a stark double standard in the media, and you’re deluding yourself if you actually think that this is confined to "one op ed columnist. The media has no problems whatsoever in doing the same things Trump does or attacking those on the right, regardless of who they are or the situation, though they hate him when he does.

As it is, Khan attacked Trump first with the whole “constitution” thing (I doubt Khan actually carries a copy around with him lol). He isn’t a victim, and I’m glad Trump fired back. And if you’ve got the likes of McShame and Grahamnesty rustled, well… You’re probably doing something right.

Agree. It’s clear that Khan started the whole thing and the major media outlets are flipping it to sound like Trump attacked Khan, when it was the other way around. In his response, Trump was just being Trump.
