Will you be watching the 2014 Super Bowl?

A season highlight reel of NFL consists mostly of guys catching passes. It isn’t very exciting. Sometimes there is a fumble. It isn’t very exciting. Sometimes a guy runs down field with his team mates knocking over anyone who attempts to tackle him. That is slightly more exciting, but still not very exciting.

If someone breaks in and, at gun point makes me watch it, I guess I will because of the 4 touchdown passes Peyton Manning is going to throw.

No sports in my house, except for men’s professional golf during major season. And the Olympics.

I’ve only ever watched 2 Super Bowls – both when I was staying in someone else’s house and it was socially unavoidable.

I’ll watch. Mostly because I’m one of those Colts fans who have jumped on the Denver bandwagon.

I’ll be watching. It’s always a pleasure to see Elway lose to the Seahawks.

After 101 votes, it’s almost exactly a 65/35 split with the Yes (all variations) ahead of the No contingents.

Does anybody feel comfortable extrapolating from these results to making a general statement about American Professional Football interest at SDMB?

Does the number surprise you in any way?

I’ll be watching both the game and adverts, although I have no vested interest in either team and the commercials haven’t been that interesting in recent years. Having the Red Hot Chili Peppers doing the half-time show makes it potentially slightly more interesting than usual.

Hey, it is an ‘event sociological’. I feel a deep inner need to remain culturally current.

I would have voted for, “I flip over occasionally and perhaps stream it in the background”, but I voted “no” because I am not really watching it or the commercials for more than 10 minutes total.

You mean the still hold the Super Bowl when the Steelers aren’t playing? Heh, that’s the only time I watch. So, no.

As a 49er fan, I hadn’t made up my mind who I was going to root for till Richard Sherman opened his mouth. Go Broncos!

Now you’ll be disappointed two games in a row. Go Hawks!

We’ve got the Kitten Bowl, the Puppy Bowl, and the Fish Bowl this year! No time for the Super Bowl, sorry.

I don’t have a cable connection. Some years I’ll see it if there’s a party going on somewhere but not this year.

The only reason I’m watching the second most boring sport on earth is 'cause I got money riding on it

I was not planning to, but on a whim I checked if you can stream it online and you can, so I have it in the corner of my screen here at work because there’s nothing else to do (this place is DEAD, I don’t know if Superbowl team’s cities are always this into it, but Seattle is REALLY into this). I can’t follow it though, I don’t get football at all. I’ve never watched a Superbowl before and I always heard about the commercials, but these commercials don’t seem at all special to me.

As it turned out, I saw none of the Super Bowl… but it doesn’t appear that I missed much!

As a Brit, it’s not really the sort of thing I’d go out of my way to watch. I don’t even watch that much sport anyway, except Snooker or Darts when it’s on. However, I decided to watch it last night coz there was sod all else on and thought I’d give it a try. It was ok, but I probably won’t watch it again. I decided to cheer on Broncos coz they looked like they had more chance of winning (how wrong was I?!) Fell asleep in the second quarter then woke up to find out that Seahawks thrashed Broncos. Had to google the results, looks like Broncos were sleeping throughout the game too! If I do watch it again next year, I’ll think long and hard who I decide to root for…

Yeah, this is what I’ve done for the last 3 years.
