Will you read this thing I wrote? A vain thread with too much drama to boot

I don’t want to post this thing I wrote in public, because that apparently counts as publication, and makes it ineligible for further publication by many publishing firms’ policies.

So with the above sentence I completely embarrass myself with the claim that the thing I wrote could possibly even be something anyone would think of publishing. And I’m going to compound the error by asking if anyone here would read it, and by being a little sort of dramatic about how to get copies to you.

It presents itself as a series of very brief passages (around a paragraph each) followed by commentary in poetic form. The passages (and some of the commentaries) are stories containing mixtures of elements from various tales in the four gospels in the New Testament (with a very brief allusion to Paul in the very last passage). These are not straight retellings, though–in many cases the themes from the NT tales are kind of twisted around in ways I found fun and interesting. The style of the passages is supposed to be somewhat reminiscent of stories from the zen tradition. The commentaries are supposed to be somewhat reminiscent in style of the poetic portion of the commentary from Wumen’s Gateless Gate.

I have no idea who I could even send this to, and that’s one thing I’m asking about here in this thread. Or should I just vanity press this thing, which I have been reading here and there is no longer considered the shameful act I was raised to think it was? (Except I am penniless.) I don’t know. I just want to know what you think about the work, and I’m letting it be known that I’m interested in taking this thing to a publication venue if such could be found that was willing to look at it.

Anyway, all that silliness and embarrassment aside, please either PM me or leave a note here if you’d like me to give you a wikisend link to a copy of the thing.

Thanks guys, and sorry.

Forgot to mention it’s title. It’s current working title is “Twelve Brief Passages of Questionable Authenticity with Enigmatic Commentary” though I’m casting about for something else.

This being the Dope, I feel the need to point out that you used the wrong “its” here. Be sure to proofread the heck out of whatever you’ve written before submitting it for publication!

Yeah yeah.

Never mind this post.
