I keep seeing people declaring that some poster has won a thread.
How is this honor bestowed?
I like lots of posts, when do I get my judgeship?
Win this thread.

Win this thread.
You win a thread when your reply cannot be bettered.
It’s the fine print that gets you. It’s great to win a thread but then you find out you have to go to the office of Creative Loafing Media, Inc. in person during business hours to pick it up.
Yes. I win.
You delicious bastard.

Bacon Explosion: The BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes - BBQ Addicts …
Mmmmmm…baaaaaaacoooooooonnnnnnnnn…
Is anyone else getting a weight loss ad to go with the bacon?
So bacon always wins? Fair enough.
I like Bacon-Bits
Well, not always. It won this time, though. It’ll probably win next time, until someone can post tits.
It will win until someone can disparage a Postmaster General.
heh, heh, heh.

Threadwin occurs if a particularly unique or witty reply is posted within an arbitrarily short time, (which can be measured in real time, or reply#, depending on the nature of the forum.)
Threadwin can be ironic, sarcastic, FAIL!, or other, depending on the forum, subject matter, and sometimes just how epic the linkage of 'O’riginal –> 'P’ost happens to be, and perhaps how closely seemingly irrelevant quotes / graphics / your mom can be linked to the source.
And bacon can help, but heeeeyyyyyy…
I can get behind any recipe that begins Weave Bacon
And I declare that bartleby has won. Mainly because I love his name. Try saying it over and over again. It’s like a mantra.
As this thread is mostly about bacon, and less about thread winage, bartleby wins for the bacon thing with cheese.
But you don’t win a thread simply because somebody loves your name. It has to be a win in the context of the thread, and it has to be a reply that… well… wins. (because it’s better than all the rest)
For example, if someone started a thread whining about how they spilled their coffee at a restaurant and it was too hot. The win reply would be the one that puts across the fact that coffee is hot in the most humorous way, bonus points if it humiliates the stupid OP for his or her stupid idea to post a thread.
Edit: There was a thread a while back where a cold-caller was ranting about people not liking the fact that they’ve been cold called and being less than civil about it. Most replies were win potential (taking the side of the people the OP was ranting about) and there is probably a win reply in there somewhere.
To not fry bacon is to commit a heinous crime.
Unless of course you’re wrapping a pheasant up with it before roasting. [drool smiley]
You can win the thread…but you just lost the game.
I’m scared. What if he’s like the candyman?
I’m afraid there is no winning this thread. There is only bacon. Bacon wins by default.
