Windows 98 Themes Problem

OK, I know that I should have known better…

A few months ago, I started experimenting with Windows Themes… trying out alternatives, downloading new ones from the Internet, etc.

Anyway I quickly tired of them and deleted them all.

But, one won’t go away.

Actually, everything on my PC is normal, except for the start-up and shut-down screens… they are still “custom.” My IT guy sent me three files:
[ul]
[li]MSDOS.SYS[/li][li]LOGOS.SYS[/li][li]LOGOW.SYS[/li][/ul]
I replaced those three files in my C:\WINDOWS directory with the three new ones… no dice.

Anyone have any ideas?

Do a search for those file names. One of them at least, normally resides in the root of your C drive. I think you’re also missing one, called logo.sys. Again, it’s been a while so I might be a little off on names.
