Windows Mail vs. Windows Live Mail

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, IE9. Unfortunately Win7 no longer supports Windows Mail and now I’m stuck with Windows Live Mail which I do not like at all. I was very happy with the composition capabilities of WM. I could insert a photo into the body of the letter, move it around, and resize it. Now all I can do is add a slide show attachment. Blah!
Are there any other email programs I can use that have the old Windows Mail features?

I know with Thunderbird you can plop an image into the message, not sure about moving or resizing. Wouldn’t hurt to try it out, I guess.

You should be able to insert a picture in the body of your email with Windows Live Mail.

Click on “Insert” and then “Single Photo”

You can copy Windows Mail from a Vista machine and run it on a Windows 7 machine.

Just tried it and it seems to work okay. A few more steps than before but I suppose I’ll get used to it. Thanks for the tip!

I used Live Mail only after Outlook Express finally stopped supporting Hotmail (used OE from whenever it came out, '96-'97, until then). I finally got sick of Live Mail’s, ah, gayness, and switched to regular Outlook (2003). Microsoft finally made a Hotmail plugin for it.

Bit of a learning curve compared to something like Live Mail (or even regular Windows Mail) as Outlook is a full-on PIM and is more meant for interoffice email. Plus it can be annoyingly s-l-o-w. But it works for me…
