Windows ME start menu question

Is there a way to make the start menu on ME work the same way as Windows 98 does? To be specific, the scrolling. I guess I just got used to Windows 98. Do I need help? Or what. (see sig)

If by scrolling you mean the way thr menus ‘unfold’ instead of just appearing, it’s called ‘transition effects’ and you can get it by right-clicking a blank area of the desktop, then clikcing ‘properties’ and ‘effects’.

The first setting I changed in ME was to turn off the customised menus (where it hides the stuff you haven’t used lately - stupid idea Microsoft)

Actually, what I was refering to is the way that Windows 98, when you click on start, then programs, everything is listed on one row from top to bottom and, depending where you are on the list, there is an arrow at the top or bottom that you click on and it scrolls to the rest of your programs. Windows ME doesn’t do that, by default anyway. It just fills up the entire screen. I hate that.

Is this what you mean…

Thanks Servo. I can never find anything on the Microsoft help site. I know that is no excuse but it’s all I got.
Anyways, thanks. It worked.

No problem. I usually just check the knowledge base [ http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/ ] for stuff like this. But if it’s not there then grab some coffee and settle in because it’s going to be a long time before you find what you’re looking for. Compaq’s site is even worse. :frowning:

You can columnize it in W98 too but you have to edit the registry.
