I got postcards today from Lsura, showing the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in NYC (always wanted to go there, but haven’t yet), and from IvoryTowerDenizen, showing a Pythonesque color cutaway drawing of a cow with French captions. Thanks!
A second card von Algher yesterday. Yay!
That’s the no-show! I’m glad it made it, and sorry I forgot to sign it! :o
3rd batch out in the mail and 3 received.
California Desert scene from Silenus, and yes that is quite a bit different from New England.
Another from **Silenus **of Yucaipa Regional Park. Last year in February I was in that area for a week.
And the 3rd from **Silenus **of the Mission Inn at Riverside CA.
Meanwhile I see that my ready to mail card inventory is down to one. Time to re-stock.
Two cards in the mail today from raventhief!
First, a Blue Crab card from the National Aquarium in Baltimore. I tried to visit that aquarium several years ago but I was foiled by choosing the wrong bus from the airport. Maybe next time.
Also a vintage card from Dinosaur Land in Virginia with a semi-bored looking young lady standing next to a Plateosaurus. When I first saw the card I thought it might be from Dinosaur Park in Rapid City, but this one looks just as cool. Another spot to add to my road trip bucket list! Thanks!
I got two more postcards.
One is from DavidA, a picture of a might bull moose! Those things are humongous!
Another card comes from Teuton, it’s parts of a stone dragon. “clawing” out of the ground. In the background there is a beautiful sunset and the ruins of a Welsh castle.
Thanks so much!
Sometime in the last 4 days I got a card from BeeGee. “Web of Mystery!”
(I’ve been on the road with my debaters all weekend.)
Two more from IvoryTowerDenizen today, showing Batman and Catwoman on one and a Japanese (or Chinese?) floral engraving on the other, and completing a limerick begun on her postcard #1. Very nice. Also one from Helena330, showing the Washington State Ferry MV Puyallup cruising on Puget Sound. Wish I were aboard!
Thanks to you both.
Japanese and It’s meant for you to color in if you like.
Hope you enjoyed the limerick.
I got a third (!) postcard from Helena330 of Crater Lake at sunset in winter. Very pretty. Thanks, Helena!
I did indeed! Thanks again.
I guess the internet ate my post from this morning. Yesterday I got two more cards from** silenus**: Yucaipa, CA and the California desert, an ecosystem I’ve always wanted to see. Thank you!
Just an update – I sent out my cards today, as I got my names/addresses a bit late.
When i dropped them in the mail, retrieved 3 cards, all wonderful Southwest scenes from Algher. Not sure if this means I’ll receive any from someone else but happy to have them in any case!
This was my first time participating in the postcard exchange. I see some people talking about mailing their “first (or whatever) batch”. I take it that we are encouraged to send more than one card to the same people whose names/addresses we received?
I wouldn’t say you were “encouraged”, I think you are “welcome” to send multiple cards.
Yeah…the price of admission is a single card to each of each of people on your list. But if the spirit moves you, go for it…send as many as you want!
The hardest part for me is picking which card(s) to send. I’ve been collecting postcards for many many years–each time one of these threads come up I pull out a stack of a hundred or so for consideration. Who knows, you may get one of these from me next time around.
Those are fantastic! Here’s hoping! Thanks for the clarification.
And a third card from DavidA: a snowless scene of idyllic Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I take it that’s your hometown? Good luck with the current snow. Thanks for the postcard!
Three cards have arrived!
Two are from Silenus, one showing the California Desert, and another showing an advert for french dipped sandwiches, which are apparently world famous but I confess I’ve never heard of.
The other is from BeeGee, and shows a cover from BAFFLING MYSTERIES magazine from the 1950s, with a gentleman being remarkably talkative as he gets eaten by a man-eating plant of his own creation.
I love postcards, thank you!
And this was completely my fault - I somehow skipped Lee Q when sending the PMs out.
Apologies!
