With New Years approaching, do you have resolutions?

I started thinking about this last night. I usually make crap resolutions, like “I’m not going to drink as much” or “I’m going to quit smoking”, knowing darn good and well that I’ll never do those things unless I really work on them. Well, last night, I had kind of a revelation. I know this is early, but it would have been done eventually.

I’m afraid of change. I’ve been wearing the same type clothes, doing the same things, and hanging out with the same people for eons now. (Am I still the only girl who dresses like she’s attending a Pearl Jam concert?) I came to the conclusion last night that I am going to make changes in my life this year, and this year will be different.

1. I am going to hang out with new and different people this year, even if it means <gasp!> finding a new bar to frequent.

2. I am going to start dressing more girly and doing all that girly crap. I’ve always said that I want to be more girly, but I’ve never had friends that would assist me in this. (And along with #1, I have met two new girls recently that are cool enough to take me under their girly wings.)

3. I’m going to pick myself up by the bootstraps and get the heck out of Dodge. Or Charleston, as the case may be. And I’m going to move to Baltimore, and start my life with a guy that has my heart.

4. I am no longer going to gripe and moan about my weight. I’m just going to say phooey, and I’m not going to step on a scale for a year. I am going to start eating healthier, though, because I really wanna spend the rest of my life with Boyfriend.

Ok. Feel free to ponder your own resolutions here, or just bookmark this thread and resurrect it in a year to wave it in my face and see if I did it.

  1. Don’t fall in love with the emotionally unavailable or damaged.

more later as I think of it

My resolution for 2003, as it has been for the last 20 years, is never to make another new years resolution as long as I live.

Funny I have to keep renewing it every year…

dammit… rico stole my thunder…

I will actually start doing yoga.

To get a haircut.

I want to lose 15 lbs so I can look like a Victoria’s Secret model. I also want to start going to a gym a couple of nights a week to get some actual exercise, eat better, and start re-learning my violin.

Nothing impossible, I think.
