The “very special” episode was about the stampede at the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati in 1979.
Yup, the phone cops – because he destroyed a nonworking phone at the transmitter (by bashing it with a toolbox that contained the bomb).
And Les led his newscast that day with the big story about the station’s transmitter being blown up.
Andy: Les, we’re OFF THE AIR!
Les: I know, Andy – that was my lead!
(I was on a WKRP-taping streak in the fall of 2001, when TV Land had it on their schedule. Unfortunately, the bomb episode was scheduled to be aired the week after 9/11. Obviously that didn’t happen. One of the best ones!)
Who looked better in a Black Death t-shirt – Johnny or Bailey?
Yes, I know it’s not trivia. Yes, I’m obsessed.
Several people were trampled to death at the beginning of a Who concert in Cincinnati. The crowd was rushing the auditorium because of the “open seating” arrangement.
I went to more than one of these 70’s “open seating” concerts. I’m here to tell you that if you were at the front of the line when they finally opened the auditorium doors, and you were caught up in the crowd surge as it pushed its way through the doors, it was very frightening. I can easily see how the people were killed in Cincy.

How did Carlson get a monkey on his back?
[QUOTE]
The question’s been answered, but didn’t Carlson have a monkey on his foot?
One bird abuse was the turkey giveaway when they threw them from the roof,
The other was revealed when the Tarleks were on nationwide TV. Herb arranged for ducks to dance every hour on the hour in a department store window, but it was discovered by the SPCA he did this by putting them on a piece of sheet metal and plugging in a hotplate underneath on the hour. The station and Herb got into big trouble for it.
Speaking of Herb and Lucille on TV, why was the church Herb and Lucile supposedly went to “closed”?
And how did Lucille describe “Little House on the Prairie”?
What did Scum of the Earth say when they threw the promoter out of the limo?
What was the promoter’s name?
Andy and Mr. Carlson admit they like some of the other’s music. Who?
What was the “over the end credits” gag in the bomb episode?
I’m going to cheat by doing cut paste quotes from the Real Families script because it was my favorite episode. It was also amazingly prescient in predicting reality TV.
About the ducks:
About Little House:
“That’s it for him, then!” And I believe his name was Mr. Peevely.
He had won at least one each of the Silver Sow and the Copper Cob.
The song Bailey sang to convince the consultant she was stoned or whatever was:
"N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestle’s makes the very best…
Chocolate!"
I believe she made puppet-like hand motions when she sang “chocolate”
She was such a babe.
In addition to the others already mentioned I believe she said “When its your turn I’ll tell you”
I swear I was the only person I knew who watched this show during its original run.
Question: Who did Herb and Bailey get in a fight with in a men’s room? (At a university campus IIRC).
The WPIG pig?
Wasn’t it the WPIG pig?
No kidding! Even as a kid I wondered why everyone was so into Loni Anderson, when Jan Smithers was right there, *much * hotter.
Because it was a synagogue (they were there on a Sunday morning).
BTW I think the turkeys were tossed from a helicopter, not the roof of a building.
And I see someone got the song Bailey sang way before me, sorry for missing it.
Just for Otto I’m going to number my questions from now on:
LL2: Who did Venus almost shoot accidentally one night at the station when he thought someone had broken in?
LL3: Who was roughed up, in a case of mistaken identity, by a thug who had come to collect a debt from Johnny?
LL4: In the same episode, who did Johnny claim he was when the thug asked him?
LL5: In the same episode, who did Johnny introduce Andy to the thug as?
LL6: In the same episode, who was Mr. Carlson forced to pretend to be?
LL7: In the same episode, who pretended to be Mr. Carlson?
LL4: In the same episode, who did Johnny claim he was when the thug asked him? Andy Travis
LL5: In the same episode, who did Johnny introduce Andy to the thug as? His brother Randy.
I never saw the episode. But I did read this thread!
Yep.
Which is more than I have done, apparently. Don’t tell me this was asked and answered already?
OK, here comes an obscure, hard one:
LL8: In the episode where Mr. Carlson’s wife gives birth to their second child, what does the hospital receptionist keep insisting Mr. Carlson’s first name is?
these are some tough questions - i thought I knew the show pretty well.
could someone please recap the as yet unanswered questions?
(surely by now I’m known for my laziness and unwillingness to read an entire thread when I come in late :D)
Another was *Straight On * by Heart. Do we have the rest?
