Women: do you have hairy forearms?

Yes, I have a lot of hair on my forearms, and it is brown and long. I have been either depilating or shaving them for about ten years now. I was always acutely self-conscious of them before I started; I don’t know why I waited as long as I did.

I also have to shave my toes and fingers. I do all of this about once a week.

Not at all. It usually takes me two or three days into sandal season to remember to do it, but then I’m all, “Oh yeah, should probably take care of that.”

I do, but not as hairy as my brother or my dad. It’s noticeable but not, say, noticeable in photos.

I have PCOS which leads to hirsutism so I’m too busy chasing all the hair on my face to give a shit about the hair on my arms. Also if I shaved my arms I would just have big hair follicles full of prickly little hairs just like on my legs.

I’m jealous of women who have “peach fuzz” or purely blonde hair on their arms but all in all it ranks pretty low in the list of things that are eye-rollingly annoying about my body.

My forearm hair is sparse and fine such that even though it’s brunette you can’t see it unless you’re up real close. That seems fine to me.

I don’t have hairy forearms-- or hairy legs, for that matter ( I shave irregularly, mostly because I’m lazy, but somewhat because I’m just not that hairy).

But I’ve known women who had hairy forearms. Hairy enough to make me think that I would shave if those were my arms.

My head and body hair is quite thick, but I lucked out in that even though my head hair is dark, the hair on my arms and legs is blonde. Now that it’s summer and I have a tan, the hair on my arms is barely visible. My sister is slightly darker complected than me, and does shave her arms.

Um, no? I suggest Nair for longer results, though. Only place Nair works for me…

I have strawberry blonde hair on my arms, and it’s noticable enough that I think it’s one of the reasons why I’ve only had 2 or 3 people ever ask if I’m a natural redhead. I don’t think about it too often, but every now and again I entertain the idea of shaving my forearms. I’ve never gone through with the thought, though.

I just grab a tweezers and pluck, there aren’t that many on my toes.

I do have hairy-ish forearms but they’re fairly light so it doesn’t bother me often.

Yes I do, and my mother (who doesn’t) was after me for ages to wax them. Finally and remembering very clearly how had it felt when I’d first waxed my legs, I got her to promise that if I did wax once and hated it, she wouldn’t badger me on the subject. Ever. Again.

Now, the waxing isn’t anywhere near as bad as people who haven’t had one imagine, at least when done by someone who knows what she’s doing; plucking can be worse. But having my arms naked was absolutely horrible. Having lost my protective layer of dark fuzz, the slightest touch felt like a grab; I spent a whole month jumping any time a breeze moved. It’s the one promise to me my mother has actually kept.

I have some fuzz, but it’s fine, shortish as arm hairs go, and blond - so barely noticeable unless the sun hits it, it gets very shiny. Never thought of messing with it.

Sure, I have hair on my forearms, but I’ve never thought of doing anything about it. It’s dark brown, as is the rest of the hair on my body, but baby-fine and sparse. When I tan it goes golden. I’m 36 now and it hasn’t changed substantially during my adult lifetime, even during hormonal treatments for a health condition.

Well, like others have mentioned, some of us have fairly light skin and dark hair. I have caramel skin, but my hair on my arms is black. Now most of the time I don’t even care and just let it grow out, but every now and then I will Nair it away just because I love the smooth texture. I never shave because it comes out at least feeling more prickly than when it grows back with Nair.

But I don’t do it for anyone else. I just like it.

I have freakishly smooth arms. If there is even baby-fine hair there it cannot be seen or felt. Weird, because the rest of me is normally hairy - i.e. gotta shave the legs & armpits at least once a season or someone breaks out the silver bullets, tweezers are frequently called for, etc. Someone accused me once of waxing my arms which I found hilarious.

Mine is fine, sparse, and basically transparent. The only time I considered – not too seriously – removing it was when I was swimming competitively. Ultimately I decided it would be a lot of hassle for very little gain. (One of my teammates did, though. I don’t recall if she dropped any of those hundredths of a second from her times.)

The hair on my arms is blond and fine (even though I have dark brown hair). I didn’t do anything with it until about three years ago.

It started to get really LONG. So, I epilate it about once every three months. Not a big deal to do and takes forever to grow back.

As for the big toe hairs, I clip them with the nail clippers when I clip my toenails. It’s weird but it works.

An arm shaver checking in here. I’m pretty pale with thick, dark hair and having hairy arms really bothered me as a kid. Shaving my arms has been part of my routine for over ten years now which I know sounds really strange, but at least there are others here who do it. I don’t have any problems with stubble/razor burn- I just have super smooth arms!

I would if I didn’t wax them religiously. I just prefer the way it looks and feel cleaner.

Same here.

I’m pale-skinned and dark-haired, and I get 5-O’Clock shadow on my legs, no joke. My arms have dark hair, but not excessively thick, and while I’m occasionally bothered by my arms, it’s never to the point of trying to get rid of the hair. Then I’d have arm-stubble, which would be much worse! The only thing I do differently than some other women is that I don’t wear bracelets, because I feel like that would draw more attention to my arms.

IME, arm hair removal is relatively popular among Middle Eastern-American* women.

And really, it is kinda funny that most American women will remove their leg hair but leave their arm hair (especially since leg shavers are also generally pit shavers, too). Obviously cultural attitudes about “acceptable” body hair are inherently arbitrary, but this is especially so! Why is it normal/expected to remove hair from legs but removing it from arms is weird?

Well, I don’t NOW. But I have very white skin and very dark hair, so I waxed until I could afford to have that business lasered.
