He kind of looks like Bob the Goon: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_svpb816r4w/T-5gL25Ds_I/AAAAAAAAAbE/52HGLnH7yNM/s1600/MovieBeards-Batman-Bob.jpg
But she LOOKS classically European. English/French/German and so forth. Gal Gadot looks Mediterranean and again, I hope she keeps the accent.
To me, she looks like a Greek goddess.
CCH Pounder was the voice of Amanda Waller on the Justice League series. AFAIK, she was the physical model that Waller was based on. I was sort of hoping that she would have gotten the role. Now, I love Viola Davis and think she is a great actor but she is too good looking for Waller.
Mixed feelings. I totally and completely don’t care in the least little bit about Wonder Woman - never have, never will. Suicide Squad was also something I never cared about…until I saw the footage. Now I’m…intrigued. I’ll have to drop the wife off at another theater, but I might just have to give SS a chance.
Women & Children First has a full-window poster of Wonder Woman out front.
Good enough for me.
I think Will Smith is a pretty good actor who doesn’t deserve most of the hate he gets. That said, dammit!!! Deadshot who never say “let’s go save the world!” The editor better leave that glurge on the cutting room floor.
The only squad members in the movie line-up with any good side are Rick Flagg and Enchantress (when she’s June)
Gloria Steinem on Wonder Woman, in 1972:
And the irony is that she was created because her creator had a dom fetish.
Not really all that ironic. There’s no disconnect between being a feminist, and being kinky. And Marston was a pretty radical feminist, even by today’s standards.
I know they couldn’t get away with the Enchantress’s real outfit in a movie (the pixie boots, black stockings, green mini-skirt and wicked witch hat) but damn…I wish they could. I loved the…campness…of that costume especially given how psychotic the Enchantress is.
That said, I’m having a hard time giving a damn about this movie. None of the characters seem anything like the versions I want to see and it has a “wacky” vibe which is always a bad thing.
Rubbish. Unfettered wishful rubbish on your part. You should be ashamed for trying to make that argument. People know who Benjamin Franklin is, but how many know where he was born, went to school, who his best friend was, etc.? So when I say “the details of Ben Franklin’s life are buried in our history and known to few outside history buffs” is that the same or nearly the same as saying “no one knows who Ben Franklin is”? :dubious:
I don’t mind if you disagree with me, but there’s no need to make stupid arguments, Miller.
A sample size of one? That translates to “popular” to you? :dubious: And no actual cite, just your words… thanks for participating.
[golfclap]
Good job digging up a 43 year old quote to support your argument that WW is still popular today, Miller.
[/golfclap]
I’m sorry you’re not good at expressing yourself clearly.
Yeah, I’m done with you. Go piss in someone else’s pool.
Sample size of two. Me AND whoever dresses the windows at the feminist bookshop next door.
It beats your cite of “my opinion.”
I could also cite my Wonder-Woman-obsessed girlfriend and Wonder-Woman-obsessed friend from high school. And my girlfriend’s cat, who wore a Wonder Woman costume for Halloween and is thus presumably a fan.
Five to one. Your move, quarryman.
Why not go back to the classic Joker, sharply dressed, etc, a la Jack?
Honestly, I don’t think it works in this sort of context. The world of Burton’s Batman was hyperreal and cartoony. Dapper madman works.
The new stuff is more gritty and blockbuster-y. I think that approach could wind up seeming dull. More like a Bond villain. I think the Leto style has a sort of “dangerous because he’s clearly unstable and self-obsessed” vibe that IS kind of Joker-y. Pretty much the whole point of the Joker is that he’s unpredictable and playing by rules he doesn’t share. I don’t think it’s a character you ever want to play safe with.
I am so fucking tired of dark and gritty.
My cite is the poster in every Capriotti’s that features Xena standing over a corpse with the tagline “Wonder Who?” That’s 106 locations, plus me, plus Lucy Lawless plus NBC plus Sam Raimi…
My point was, you made a claim, not provided a cite. Cites usually involve links to things, to prove that they exist and are as stated.
Also, what do you mean by “quarryman”? It’s not my name, and I don’t work in a quarry. Is it supposed to be some sort of pejorative?
A new trailer for Suicide Squad was just released. It keeps looking better and better.
Honesty when I heard they were going to have the Joker in the Suicide Squad I was thinking “There’s no way I’m ever watching this” but if it’s not Heath Ledger Joker or Killing Joke Joker maybe it won’t be so bad.
