Woodshop for dummies: Or how do I build a stand

I’ll be the first to admit it my computer room is clutterd. I have 2 L shaped Desks with printers and computers on them and I know there is a better way to use the space. I was thinking that if I had the computers of one desk I could move both printers to the vacated space and remove one of the desks.

My problem is the floor of the room is carpented and if I put them directly on the floor it is too low for me to reach the USB ports. I need to build a stand or bench about 3 feet long , wide enough for a standard tower and I’d guess 4-6 inches high that can hold 4 tower computers.

My problems are

  1. My skills with wood are limited
  2. I have only the following tools
    A) Circular Saw
    B) Drill
    C) Hammer
    D) Screwdriver

What is the easiest way to build something sturdy that will work?

I don’t think this belongs in IMHO but I’ll accept any relocations the mod’s deem necessary (not that I have a choice)

Four cinder blocks and a chunk of plywood cut to size with your circular saw. Lay the plywood on top of the cinder blocks. If you want something a little classier, cut a piece of plywood to size, and screw on some pieces of 2X6 pine to make a base.

I took shop, have a table saw, motorized plane, router, drill press, gluing clamps, etc., etc, etc. The way I did it waw to go down to a used furniture place and buy one.

You ever have one of those lousy days where everything goes wrong and you aren’t sure if you can make it 'til quitting time? Well, I’ve been having one of those tonight, until I read this.

Thanks David Simmons, you gave me a laugh when I sorely needed it.

Carry on.
