"don’t shit on people " … “I just lost my respect for you” … “pissing on someone else’s party” … etc.
He didn’t come in and insult anyone. He replied to a thread with a question as a title with an answer. The thread title was a directive to do something – wish someone a Happy Birthday – his answer was, “No I won’t”. And everyone is mortally offended by this?? Gimme a frickin’ break.
Was it funny? In my mind, marginally. Was it offensive? Fuck no!! Offensive is calling someone “a tremendous flaming ass” for cracking wise.
Jesus Harold Christ.
Happy Birthday Una. Many happy returns.
And rather than being such an absolute prick about it, he could have just stayed out of the fucking thread. It wouldn’t have been that hard. But instead he felt the need to basically say, “You’re not worth the birthday wishes but, instead of keeping my damn mouth shut about it, I’m going to point out the fact that you aren’t worth it by blatantly denying the ‘Happy Birthday’ wish this thread was intended for”. Why? Because he’s a fucking asshole.
If it was intended as a joke, it clearly failed. Think you (and you could be whothefuckever) could say, “I’m sorry, my bad, didn’t mean to rain on your parade” and just grow the fuck up?
Jack Batty, you Hitler piece of shit. How dare you point out that it was a SINGLE WORD.
It’s amazing that a single word has instigated a whole pit thread. I’ve written entire posts that were worse than the word “no”, and do I have any pit threads dedicated to me?
Birdy, maybe they’re complaining that you didn’t post a longer sentence, maybe something similar to “No, I don’t want to wish her happy birthday.”
Seriously, folks. It was a single word. If one word can rile you up so much, maybe there should be a hell of a lot more pit threads?
It’s possible to consider an action as petty, small minded, mean spirited and totally unnecessary without being considered easily offended YK?
All woodstockbirdybird needed to do was shut up. If he’s got an issue with Anthracite then there are places to air it. In a thread to say happy birthday it is just shitty behaviour to say No I don’t want to wish this person a happy birthday.
I think it’s pretty obvious what “everyone’s getting so riled up about”. It’s been said. Repeatedly. Read this thread again. Carefully this time, I’m sure you’ll be able to come up with something.
Oh, don’t get me wrong - the comment was inappropriate. But the dander that’s being raised is making Mt. St. Helens look like a puff of smoke - wholly disproportionate to a smartass making a smartass comment (which, again, hasn’t seemed to bother the recipient of the comment). Did it really deserve an official Moderator warning? I certainly don’t think so.
I haven’t seen this much ire since the threads about the guy who skinned the cat alive - and that was one guy that fucking deserved it.
Was he a jerk? Is “Don’t be a jerk” an official board rule? When you break an official board rule, should you get an official Moderator warning? I certainly think so.
How do you know it hasn’t bothered her? If you found out that it DID bother her, then would you withdraw your objections? I don’t presume to speak for her, but I’d be pissed… but maybe too busy on my birthday to post about it.
IMO, not even close. If Anthracite had raised holy hell, maybe, but the fact of the matter is, 95% of the people reading it just ignored his inane little comment. There have been far worse things said than one flippant little remark that didn’t get official warnings - why this one?
