Woohoo! I can eat real food!

As many of you know, due to some health problems I have not been allowed to eat real food since June.

I was started on a Full Liquid diet two weeks ago. I was supposed to start a Soft Food diet last week. Well, actually, I did start it. The first day I made scrambled eggs. The first bite did not go down right. Actually came up. And prevented anything else from going down. Back to the hospital. An Endoscopy revealed that one of my stents had become plugged with eggs. (OK, here is how big a geek I am. They woke me up to tell me that my stent was clogged with eggs. My first thought was “What the hell is laying eggs in my stent?” I was picturing Aliens coming out of my chest. After a minute I realized it was scrambled eggs.) They took out two stents and put a new one in.

Back on a liquid diet. Then on to a pureed (sp) diet. And now, back to soft foods! Horray! I have already had some speghetti (yesterday.) It was great! Whoohoo!

Hooray! Hugs for Khadaji!

And now, Bob, an interesting story another part of the country. Apparently, a newly discovered spider, named the Woo-woo Spider, lays its eggs in the throat of its host as part of their reproduction pattern. Symptoms include vomiting, sinus congestion and tiny little baby spiders crawling from the hosts mouth and nasal cavities.

Back to you Bob.

Having been on a drip for several months in my early 20s one thing I found was that the first solid food I had after that became an instant favourite food. So try eating something really healthy and you may be doing yourself a great favour when it becomes your favourite food
Did you watch food programmes when you couldn’t eat? I did, despite it seeming like it would be torture I found they helped.

Healthy? What means healthy? Actually, since I still have a wound in my belly, they want me to eat high-protien, high-calory meals. I can eat Tunafish salad, egg salad, peanut butter right out of the jar, Reeces peanut butter cups, peanut butter M&Ms (all recommended by the wound specialist.) I want a Filet, but am not yet allowed. I didn’t watch the food network. My in-home nurse used to torture me by telling me about her evening meals, but she didn’t realized that she was doing it. I had corn on the cob for lunch, which isn’t high-protien and may not even be allowed, but it went down fine and tasted so very good!

Oh my Og, I wish someone would put me on the all-peanut butter and chocolate diet!

Seriously, though, it’s good to hear you’re getting better.

Oh man, I don’t know how you went that long without going insane!

I was on IV feeding for almost two weeks and I was going freaking nuts!

And what Bippy the Beardless said! Split Pea Soup I love because it was
my first full liquid meal! Also i wanted McDonalds over lobester first, because of
all th TV adds!

But that’s great! welcome back to the wonderful world of flavor!
I hope you are fully cured!

I felt the same way after recovering from oral surgery. Hell, I was happy to be able to open my mouth! So yay for Khadiji!

Umm…Khadaji, sorry. :smack:
