Words that you ALWAYS misspell

Somewhat in the spirit of this thread, what are words that you always misspell? I’m sure I’ll think of more later, but for now:[ul][li]definitely (even though I know that it has the word “finite” in it, I always type it as “definately”)[/li][li]calendar (I keep wanting to type “calander”, and they both always look wrong to me)[/ul][/li]Any others?

I used to misspell:
Independence: I finally learned it because it’s a street in DC, where I lived for a while.
Separate: I got this by remembering there’s a rat in separate. I turned my college math teacher’s face red when I corrected him on this

thier

or is it their?

Dammit!!!

I’m spelling a lot of words incorrectly since I got a computer. Friggin’ spell check.

Similarly
Particularly
(doesn’t one of those have an “i” in it?)
the list goes on and on, but not here, because I’m tired and can’t think at the best of times

Necessary or necessarily. Probably misspelling it right now.

Guarantee.

And I’m a copy editor and should know better! :frowning:

I always have to spell check when I type niece, even though it uses the “i before e except after c” rule, it still never looks right to me.

definitely is one of mine.

I also, since I can’t touch type, have this thing where I constantly mistype “ng” as “gn”. I’ve no idea why it happens, but it does. I know that’s not the same as misspelling, but it happens a lot.

Character?

I used to spell tomorrow as “tommorow”… I have gotten out of that one, thankfully.

Successful - One l or two l’s in the end? I can never be sure

Address - I always forget which letters there are two of.

Restaurant…or it is restaurent? That one always looks wrong no matter how I spell it.

I recently realized that I had been spelling exercise wrong. I kept spelling it as excercise, and someone finally corrected me.

Sometimes I spell definitely wrong, but I think it’s a habit I picked up from reading stuff on the internet.

We recently discovered at work that all of our computers have bad spell check programs. (We’re using Windows 2000, so maybe it has a bug or something). I noticed it when someone handed in a report that had about a zillion words spelled wrong. I made a little note saying, “Please remember to spell check.” They said they had. I checked it out on my computer and it missed at least a third of my mistakes. Not completely related to this thread, but it is a pain in the ass. [/hijack]

I misspell more words when typing, than I do writing with a pen.

I also think the list of the words I spell correctly, is shorter than the ones I speel incorrectly.

Problematic words, naturalization, wednesday, incendiary, illuminary, Czechoslavakia, supercalifrajilisticexpialidosouis.

“The”, and any other word that contains the t-h-e combination.

For some d*mn reason it always comes out as “teh”. I’ve sometimes had to correct it three or four times in a row. My fingers just can’t seem to get that one right.

Every time I type “write” it comes out “writhe”. And I frequently type “nad” instead of “and”. Suggestive typos, no?

I have come to accept the fact that I may never learn to spell these words correctly:

British: (I want to spell it Brittish)
restaurant: (I want to spell it restuarant)
ridiculous: (I have to remind myself that the base word is “ridicule”, or else it gets spelled “rediculous”)

Almost every time I type the word “soul” I type “sould.”

My fingers just find it natural to add the extra D.

Anything with the ie combination in it! Sheessh!
also niave naive???
double letters throw me when typing half the time I double the prior letter/leeter…truly appaaling

Exercize.

Excersize.

Excersise.

Exersise.
I have no idea which is correct.

I always have a problem with the word apparently. No matter how I type it it never looks correct. I can’t spell tomorrow without looking at it twice either.
