Ah, yes…duplication and ambiguity…always fun! I think there should be someone in charge of “data that is likely to meet other data” in every organization. They could be responsible for making sure that everything is named consistently and clearly defined. Who’s with me?
You definitely need to get little brother all trained, Hank. Any of the above suggestions should work.
I think you just need to be in charge, Nava. Then you’ll be able to decree that anyone who doesn’t have stuff to do can do whatever they want (within reason). I still can’t believe they don’t have more for you to do. I have about four million items on my to-do list. Wanna help?
My day was actually much less stressful than anticipated. I had two major meetings that could have been unpleasant. They both went well, and ENDED EARLY. The one I ran was scheduled for 2 hours and we finished in 1:35. Yay! So now I’m all
Why do I have a mental image of shrubbery covered in wiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrreeeeee haaaaaannnnnngeeeeeerrrrrsssssss!!!
I’ve thrown 8 more pieces, then I cleaned my studio, a chore which was long overdue. **FCD ** has The Sick - he wouldn’t listen to me this morning when I told him to stay home. Men… Dunno if he’ll go in tomorrow.
I’ve got a stupid meeting late tomorrow, but I’m cutting out at 2:45 whether it’s done or not. I’ve got a guy from Cutco coming to the house at 3:30 to sharpen my knives - that trumps the stoopit meeting.
Brandy is now on The List. She went charging up her cat tower, overshot, and knocked over my beautifullest african violet. I replanted it, but I need a bigger pot. Maybe I can throw myself one, ya think?
Guess that’s all for now. I want dessert. Something decadent. Now. Dammit.
Correction, that’s curried pork and sweet N.O.T.. How could I have been so remiss!
I surfed the pool MBG.
Ok, Tropicana makes this stuff called Peach Punch which is really good. It’s really, really good when one mixes in a little pineapple flavored rum. Da bear is da buzzed!
waaaah, I want some DiSoranno and I’m all out! waaaah!
I am going to get into bed early as a hedge agains Teh Sick (i assume it’s traditional to misspell “the” in this case?) I’ve got those little pre-Teh Sick muscle aches.
Just so you all know–your plans to move the party on me didn’t work.
Even if it didn’t say MMP in the title, I managed to track you all down.
I have had a busy day (no, I didnt’ read the whole MMP–I’ve HAD a busy day!), and I’ll have another busy one tomorrow. I AM SUPPOSED TO BE ON SPRING BREAK, PEOPLE!!!
Apparently, TPTB did not get my memo. I have one interview for tomorrow for this new position, and then I called and there was an open appt for the podiatrist tomorrow, so I’m off to his office as well. (I am having extreme pain in my left foot, again–all of a sudden. It was fine two weeks ago, and now the pain is constant. I haven’t started any new exercise or gotten new shoes, etc. I wonder if my orthotics need replacing. It hurts, dammit!)
Boofae --my mother broke her back and neck in a car accident waaaaaaay back before any of her kids were born. I think you truly are bionic!
Hope the rest of you perk up or whatever it is you need to do to get happy. Sorry to hear about the Entitled Younger Brother, but I fear I am raising at least one son to be that way. Believe me, I don’t believe in spoiling children, but to try to outlast him (this is #1 son)…all I can say is that when my future DIL comes to me and complains, I will say, “hey, I tried. I really did.” He just doesn’t SEE dirt or mess. He has no concept of time…
Hello everyone. I hope folks are getting better and less achey.
It was another so-so day at work. I need a vacation.
On the brother thing, Haze; good luck with that. I’ve tried the “going on strike” thing with my family. They just don’t see the messes the way that I do. So, I’m “on strike”, crap piles up, and then I give up in disgust and do it myself.
One of the meetings I usually have scheduled for Wednesdays was cancelled due to a Tiger Team visit, so I’m happy about that. I had a couple of minor annoyances at work today, but I just sort of let it go by me. I’ll wait to see what the boss says about some of the stupid e-mail I received from one of his staff.
Other than that, nothing else going on. I need to go rustle up some chop-chop for the family.
By the way, since I never came back last night (the sleepy pills kicked in sooner than anticipated) that is a righteous OP db!
Yeah, but I only noticed the wet stuff. I never feed wet. They get plenty of treats, but wet gives them poopy butt. Pomeranian poopy butt is just not an okay thing. Kling-on’s happen often enough with the kibble diet.
I repeat, it’s the first sign of a dyin’ cat! Our Black Jack On Crack has done that to one of my rather ordinary blue African Violets as well as my most gorgeous ruffled pale pink with dark pink edges and splotchy spots…twice. They have recovered, as has the begonia he reduced to a stick plant, but he only did that one once. I do have two Poms (that I have caught in the act) who have been standing up (like little bears) and chomping on my hibiscus leaves. I gave up today and moved it out of reach.
My arm is finally looking as if it might actually heal. I am using silvadine cream on it, and it looks much better. It still itches, burns, stings and throbs, but at a tolerable level. This is week five, if anyone is keeping track. Silvadine is a sulfa drug, which is contra indicated for someone with my auto immune problems, so I have the flare stuff going on, especially cognitive malfunctions and extreme fatigue, yee-fricken-haw. I am getting a lot of sleep though, and have been having vivid dreams, interesting and good dreams. I just want you all to know that I am present and accounted for, just all lupie!
It snowed all day today and the barometer is falling fast. I need to get out of The Chair and back onto the bed with my heating pad. My best to those with teh sick, the unemployed, MBG and his jailbait wannabe sexatary, yay swampus on keeping on with quitting, and hugs and thinking of you’s to everyone. I can’t wait to recover enough to be witty and bright. (pretty went a couple of decades ago )
I’ve been contemplating my brother problem quite a bit today. To explain the situation a bit further - he’s here in the US because he’s an American citizen and couldn’t stay in Korea because he had no reason to - not a full time student, didn’t have a job. His plan is to get his BA here so he can teach English in Korea (he likes it better there) but he’s not very studious. Currently he’s attending a community college but I have a sneaking suspicion he’s been skipping classes. What really pisses me off is that currently both of us are being supported by our parents back home, so not only is he wasting his own time, he’s wasting our parents’ money. I can’t believe that he doesn’t realize how pathetic he’s being at the moment - he needs to shape up if he’s ever going to transfer to a four-year college and get a BA so he can go back to Korea. He doesn’t even have a part-time job at the moment, which is silly because he’s only taking two classes this semester and spends most of his days glued to his computer, playing games or watching movies. He has no ambition whatsoever and doesn’t think past his next meal, or so it seems most of the time. Meanwhile, my own life is more than enough to keep me preoccupied - I’m a full-time grad student trying to take courses and write a thesis while figuring out what I’m going to do once I get my degree. Not to mention the personal drama I’m currently having to deal with! Gah.
Anyway. I saw 300 today. Some of the dialog was pretty awful but it was a visually stunning film with lots of pretty people to look at. Tomorrow I’m going to go do paperwork at the community college I’ll be working at this summer. And hopefully get some thesis work done, although I seriously have my doubts as to how much I’ll actually accomplish.
Why is everyone so full of aches and pains? Get better, all of you - I demand it!!
Morning all. I’m having a little coffee before work. Tomorrow is another day off for me . My back feels the same, but the meds can take up to two weeks to work.
Morning all; I’m up early also, although I don’t have a wonderbeagle to walk.
I’ma try to get in early today too! Getting in early is definitely a good thing, 'cause I get credit time that I can use instead of leave. Woo hoo! Glad to hear the arm is healing, Kai, though sorry to hear about the flare-up the med is causing. FCM, sorry that Brandy knocked over your African violet, but I’ll bet you can throw a beautiful new pot for it. Swampy, good on you for keeping up!! Also, I wanted some curry pork last night for some reason … but we had rotisserie chicken instead.
I baked a carrotcake yesterday, and was quite happy with everything until I poured the mix into the pan, which turned out a bit oversized compared to the amount of mix :smack:
Instead of bringing carrotcake to work today, I’m bringing a kind of carrot pancake. The icing will conseal some of the flatness, but it will not fool anyone when they start to dig in.
So for my birthday I wish that I will soon learn to match how much mix I will need to make to fill the cakepan, or vice versa
Rigs - hope the foot’s better soon. Why don’t you ask for a bionic one? It’s probably the only limb we haven’t got a bionic version of yet!
CanineServant, didn’t you know that horsepills are all the rage this week? My doc gave me anti-biotics that are huge and the instructions say they’ve got to be swallowed whole. I should use the same trick we pull on the cats and coat the pill in butter first.
Haze, the brother dilemma is a tough one but you really have to work on him to get him to buck his ideas up, especially if he’s wasting your parents’ time and money. When I inherited 'im indoors, he’d been living away from home for several years but he’d mostly been living in shared housing which has left an indelible mark on him.
Although we live together, he does his own cooking and his own laundry. Doing his own cooking I can understand because I’m a vegumatarian and he’s not so we never eat the same stuff anyway, but the whole laundry thing puzzles me! I quite often pick up his dirty stuff off the floor and throw it in the laundry basket (yes, he’s got his own laundry basket too) but I’ll also take stuff out of there if I don’t have a full load of washing myself. He never reciprocates though.
He never seems to notice dirt or mess around the house although he’s responsible for most of it. I’ve tried leaving the vacuuming and stuff like that but there’s only so much I can tolerate and I end up doing it eventually because I just can’t stand it any more.
The last few days he’s been using stuff out of the freezer and there was a pile of plastic tubs and lids in the kitchen that he’d washed. I asked him to put them away and you would have thought from the look on his face that I’d asked him to paint the moon purple.
The topic in the EMT class last night was assessment of trauma patients, which can be icky in it’s own right. The TMI comes in where certain conditions of the male genitalia indicate trauma, such as priapism and/or a massively swollen scrotum.
After the lecture was over, we spent the rest of the night feeling each other up.
Ya know, ACBG and I feel each other up quite often, but we don’t need a lecture first.
Up and caffienating here. Gonna go tackle my yards soon and get 'em all spiffed up. I feel like it’ll get done in two to three hours. The weather right now is perfect for yard work. Around 60 and sunny. So, off I go to beautify da swampyards.
kai glad your arm is doin’ better. Here’s hopin’ it heels up soon. Doggio be careful with the ol’ back. Rigs could you get a bionic foot? Cause that sounds so jake.
Is it stuff I can do long distance? Would I get paid?
One of the things I love about the EGT (Spain’s main Labor Law) is that it spells out that, when they don’t have “active tasks”, workers can study; individual companies should indicate what other activities are acceptable under the same circumstances. I’ve hit a couple bosses with the EGT when they told me I wasn’t allowed to study while at work :p, I’ve had jobs where it wasn’t OK to install games in the computer but was OK to BYOGameboy.
One of SiL’s first college classes involved feeling the packages of the males in the class. When the students, as they probably do every year, stood there looking stunned (f) or as if they wanted to run away (m), the teachers said “next week we get to check the girls, so stop looking yucked out and get to work. And if you think this is yucky, you’re still in time to drop out and move over to Spanish Lit. Get moving!”
Mr. Anachi does his own laundry. And I do mine. We take turns with bedding and other household items. I do 99% of the cooking and interior housework. He does 100% of the exterior yard work and car maintenance. It works well.
kai, glad the arm is healing. I have one AV that is just starting to bloom after being rescued from a life in prison under flourescent lights. My breakfast nook bay windows are perfect and I have been coddling that plant and it’s brother for about six months.
bobbio and swampy, you two better behave!! You DON’T want me to come in there!!
Billing hell starts today as well as department staff meeting. And I have to run and pick up the two pictures that went to the UPS store for packaging as baggage.
That’s a GREAT idea… I just don’t want to be the one in charge of it. Someone *else *should do that and provide me with clear, unambiguous data.
I’m back at work and I can breathe, unaided by pharmaceuticals. But now I’m feeling the slight hung-over-ness of having taken nose drugs + sleeping pills last night. Ugh.
I think I’m going to go Clorox Wipe down my whole cubical.
