A little wiping with a bathrag over the important bits did enough to get me through the day (helps that my nearest cubicle colleagues are out today).
Little bit of excitement…lady found a small carry-on bag, with handle up but no name or other information just sitting alone about 10 ft. from my cube (me, busy scanning the Dope, never even noticed it). No one in the general area owned up to it and nobody much wanted to touch it (we do work for the US Government after all and we do have to take Security training), so we reported it to the local security officer…and 20 seconds later the owner came along and claimed it (somewhat shamefacedly, since we all gave her the business…). So emergency (and the sole source of interest in the day) averted.
Six indoor soccer games to referee starting at 7PM tonight…I must be crazy, but I keep signing up for this. Well, does get me out in public.
Going home now and see if the printed directions to re-start the water heater work. Otherwise I’ll have to call for professional (meaning $$$$) assistance.
I worked six solid hours this morning but I got a lot done for Jason, so yay! I met **FCD **for lunch, then arrived for my interview about 5 minutes early. From 1 till nearly 5 I spoke with 6 different people (at 4 different facilities) in the hiring process plus a couple of low-level supervisors and a receptionist who apparently just lurves my sweetie! I answered the same questions multiple times (duh) and when all was said and done, the nice HR lady said one way or another, they’d contact me within 2 weeks.
I was interviewed by people from 3 different parts of the company - two are apparently really busy and in need of help, the third, not so much, but they wanted to talk to me anyway. As Tina from HR explained, they may decide among themselves who wants to make me an offer, or if more than one wants me, I get to choose. The two most likely both make simulators/trainers - one doing multiple quicker projects and the other doing longer, more involved programs. The main thing going against the second place is that they’re on base, and deeper on base than where I work now.
Tina HR also asked about money and how soon I could start, plus she’s going to check and see if I have an active Secret clearance - I honestly don’t know if I do, but getting one should be easy-peasy. She also told me all about the company bennies - they’re very generous - moreso than where I am now. Anyway, I’m optimistic - I’ll be very surprised if I don’t get an offer.
Meanwhile, I am totally fried. We went out to a nice restaurant for supper - where I wanted to go with my birthday money, but the weather turned crappy. So I’ve had a month late b-day dinner. It was yum. I’m thinking of making a drink and I fully intend to crash early. I had all kinds of weird dreams last night and I kept waking up. Add the stress of the day, and it’s amazing my eyes are still open!!!
That’s all the news that’s fit to print. I think I hear Kahlua calling my name!!
We ended up going to the local thrift store, where we found suitable attire. And since it was Wednesday, it was half off. The guys found suit jackets and pants, and I found a dress. The sprog, completely against his will, got a haircut. I need to do the same tomorrow.
In other news, we got a new cat this week. Well, I got a cat. His name is Reed and he’s a big galoot. He’s a rescue that I met for the first time last weekend. He loves chasing the red dot and getting belly rubs, which he’s allowed since about 10 minutes after I got him home last night. Of course I have a pic! So far, Target has spent some time hissing at him through the door, and Bethany was oblivious until she actually saw him. It’s going to be interesting to see how they interact and how the pecking order shakes out.
We’re all doing OK, I think. The sprog is on his camping trip, and Airman and I are watching a shitty Steven Seagal movie. I think I’m going to bed soon.
VERY cute boy! I assume all kitties are fixed or soon to be?
In other news, I’m not sure who I hate more today, the customers who gleefully trash the store they shop in or the bitch co-irkers I had to endure tonight.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin and clear out with a predicted high of 75 and sunny for the day. Not too shabby, though I will spend a fair amount of the day helpin’ to clean out a pig pen. We shall be there around eight this mornin’. Someone is supposed to show up to move the biiiiiiiiig player piano which will be a good thing as that will free up a lot of space in JDD Bro’s livin’ room. A lot of the day will be spent goin’ through the mounds of junk everywhere. ICK!
MOOOOOOM glad the interview(s) went well. I just know you shall have a new gig soon.
doggio those killer leaves can be very sneaky.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I guess I should make myself presentable as in brush my teeth and maybe shave. No need to shower bein’ as we are goin’ to the ickiest place on earth.
We’ve apparently got killer leaves surrounding our homestead also. And wookalars. Poor Higgs is constantly on alert.
I crashed shortly after 9, having ingested a kahlua-n-cream-n-amaretto. Taz and Ziva slept with me till about 2 when I woke to pee - then they got locked out. FCD’s been trying to sleep on the guest bed since the mattress is newer than ours and apparently better for his back. I think he’ll finally concede that it’s time we replace our mattress - that may be part of today’s activities - shopping. rah.
But first, breakfast at the cafe. We’re both showered and dressed and waiting for the cafe to open - we can leave shortly. I’m feeling human - huzzah! Sleep and cleanliness work wonders.
We’re back at da cave after a trip to JDD Bro’s house. All I can say is…
ICK! ICK! ICK! ICK! ICK!
That house used to be so nice. Now it is literally trashed. We did find a treasure trove of carnival glass and crystal. JDD and JDD Sis have identified and will retrieve a couple pieces of antique stuff they want. The rest of everything worth sump’n is bein’ looked at by an antique dealer some time this next week. JDD and Sis have pretty much decided it’ll be a make an offer deal and haulin’ it outta there is the dealer’s problem. Makes sense to me.
Shortly we are headin’ to the not too shabby Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet for N.O.L. I shall also take twuck to get washed whilst we are out as the car wash place is near the food place. After that, 'tis leisure and very probably nap time this afternoon.
We have achieved new bed - it’ll be delivered next week. Our almost 20-y/o mattress will be hauled off at the same time. Amazingly, **FCD **found he likes the gel foam mattress - he said he had no pain at all and he lay on it a fairly long time. I liked it because it was very much like the foam topper on the mattress that I’ve been sleeping on for years. So instead of 2 XL twins, we can get a single king mattress. Huzzah!
I also stopped at WalMart and got some mustard (can’t believe we were out of it) and a couple of the ceramic coated frying pans I’ve been wanting to try out. And I filled the car, and bought stamps. It was a pretty productive morning. My sweetie is napping now and I’m trying to decide what to do today. I should probably empty the dishwasher - it’s been sitting full of clean dishes for 2 days. No, I haven’t been cooking much…
