World Cup Squad Announcement Videos: Do the USMNT have one?

The Mysterious and Arcane YouTube Algorithm today recommended (and I actually enjoyed) a couple of videos of World Cup Squads announcing their team rosters. Here’s Scotland’s and here’s New Zealand’s.

Speaking of teams that might make it out of the Group Stage*, I don’t see the USA’s anywhere, and I’ve used just about every combination of search terms I can think of. So,

  1. Is every team doing one of these?
  2. Where the fuck is the USA’s?

*OK, so the USMNT will probably advance to the Knockout Stage IMHO (against Paraguay, Australia and Turkiye), but I’ll keep to more realistic expectations of what happens after.

The USMNT could easily lose to Australia and Turkey.

As for videos, they don’t exist because the squad hasn’t been announced yet. That’s scheduled for May 26 I believe.

They’re heavy favorites to win Group D, but that’s neither here nor there.

Thank you for the update about the announcement, I do hope that they (and every team, actually) put together such a video.

The US is the lowest rated in the group based on ELO. I’ve been watching less international soccer than the past, but that doesn’t strike me as an accurate reflection of talent.

Really? Hmm, I might have to head over to the sports book and lay a bet.

They’re -575 to advance, according to Draft Kings, so don’t expect to get rich. And of course, the USMNT and heartbreak/failed expectations go hand in hand.

You said win the group, not advance. I was looking to take a bet against them if they were heavy favorites to win, but looks like they’re +125 to win the group.

Yeah sorry, I got win / advance confused, but the point remains: it’s highly likely (according to the betting public, anyway) that they’ll advance. As a USMNT supporter, I’ll take either.

The best announcement video is just the coach reading from a sheet of paper (that has been written on by hand, with a pen).
More than that is presumption and thus mufa.

Less is more, as the old saying goes.

I fear AFA will fail to take this in account and present something fastuous and yeta as fuck, probably done wiht AI

Yeah, most groups are going to have 3/4 teams advance so I would expect them to be likely to advance. Finishing 3rd is way way worse than winning the group though. It’s the difference between matching up against France or Uzbekistan in the knockouts.

I pray Argentina doesn’t end up winning the group only to face a “best third” Uruguay in the first knockout match, Uruguay is equally capable of losing against Senegal or Ghana and of beating Argentina, just to spite us. (May be we shouldn’t have made fun of their last WC win being in black and white, or the extra stars in their shirt, or the size of their country…)

Dammit! I just checkend and it’s even worse, if we win the group we face the second of group H, which is practically guaranteed to be Uruguay or even Spain.

Merely annoying to get a tough #2 or #3 for Argentina, while it’s the difference between the US having a fighting chance and needing a miracle.

True, but it’s ironic that winning our group means playing our oldest and bitterest rival and ending up second means playing one the tournament’s favorites.

The solution is evident: finish fourth. It will spare you a lot of heartbreak later. And it will be easier to boykott the whole corrupt charade.

Nah, better to lose to Uruguay, at least our little brothers will feel better for a while.
