World of Warcraft: Legion general discussion thread 19 July 2016

I’ve never heard anyone talk about maxing out their Artifact meaning “got all my Concordance points”. IME maxing it out means “nothing left to get but Concordance points”.

That’s your experience, I haven’t heard anyone use the term at all post-7.2, getting to Concordance is just referred to as ‘got Concordance’.

Maxing an artifact out was something you did pre-7.2 at which point the game wouldn’t let you spend any more AP tokens on it, but getting to that point right now is impossible, so Oakminster’s question doesn’t make any sense to me and I would hope he could clarify.

I dunno what concordance is. I meant I’ve got all of the traits I know how to get, including the one that only appears after you get what I thought was everything else. Gonna go google concordance now.

There never was such a point, at least not after October 2016 or so. I know; I was shoveling AP points in long after maxing them out and only getting % increases.

Did you have some point or other, or did you just want to argue about pedantic bullshit?

Then you didn’t shovel enough AP points into them, the %-increase trait only had 20 ranks and that was doable without going to extremes.

Now for the issue at hand, Oakminster says he has all the traits he can get, and doesn’t know what Concordance is, so that makes me wonder, Oakminster have you done the artifact upgrade quest chains that unlocks more traits? How many traits do you currently have? (The number at the top left corner of your artifact screen.)

Yes, there was definitely a point where it wouldn’t even allow me to Use AP objects, until I did the artifact upgrade thing on the Broken Shore.

I don’t know what those quest chains are. On the advice above, I cashed in my various AP items, and found that I can increase what I thought was the last trait. It’s up to about 9% bonus damage now, maybe 8.5. I think the number at the top left is about 47 now.

Looks like I’ve got a lot more grinding to do. Or not. I’m leveling a hunter, currently 106. Still haven’t used my free lvl 100 token, so I could make something else. Or level other 90-ish alts.

Rolleyes all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that such a point existed, and that some people reached it even if you didn’t.
And for someone who doesn’t want to argue pendantic bullshit you seem to have a hard time letting the matter drop.

Oakminster, you really want to do those upgrade quests, you get a pretty large boost instantly. Unfortunately, I’m not really sure where you can find the quest :o
But I think you should find it either in your classhall, at the Broken Shore or at the Violet Citadel in Dalaran, look for those orange !.

IIRC, Khadgar kicks it off on the Broken Shore, at whatever that enclave is that gets built after your initial scenario is over.

It was dropped; you keep commenting on it. I just reply to your comments.

You post something that is factually incorrect and expect people on this board to ignore it?

If you really want to drop this, just leave it alone and I won’t bring it up again either.

I’m with Bo on this one. Only a WoW player would call the grind required to max out your AP pre 7.2 “doable without going to extremes.” The fact that the hardcore players managed it also does not even mean it happened without “going to extremes.” My understanding is that it took hundreds, if not thousands Maw of Soul runs to cap it at AK 25.

I have 9 mythic Maw of Souls clears total and managed to get to the cap before 7.2 so no, spamming Mythic+(which is what I meant by extremes) wasn’t necessary, it got you there faster, but you could get there by mostly just being religious about doing your WQs.

You don’t get to dictate the terms of the discussion in my thread. I had dropped it; you keep revisiting it.

I think I may have found it. Started with a scroll that dropped from a trash mob, leads to what appear to be lengthy quest lines for each spec? I grabbed all the quests, but I’m working the Frost one first.

Yes, that’s almost certainly the exact one.

Depending on class, working off-spec can be challenging. But if you bothered to get off-spec artifact weapons, you already know that.

Especially on a hybrid class. I died SOO MANY TIMES working Resto and <other DPS> on my shamans, and Blood DK on my normally Frost DK involved as much ghost-running as actual fighting.

Still, empowering your weapon (which is what these quest chains are called) seems worth it to me. I like the special “bonus” things you can get for some classes for fully empowering (i.e., doing the quest to restructure the weapon’s talent tree and filling up the new graph, and then one point of Concordance of the Legionfall). Like (for mages, any spec), a little flying disc mount for your battle pet (toy).

Well, I finished the Frost one, or at least a stage of it. Got a gift from Khadgar & Friends, opened up another little round space with more talents, got about 30 million AP to spend. Pretty cool, and now more points to chase to fill up this thing…and apparently more spots/charges available on the main weapon, too.

I don’t have nimble fingers, and frankly, I’m not a very good player, but I’m cranking out 600k+ dps in Frost. Not bad for an old man.

Any opinions on Patch 7.3?

I played my main through the early quests, mostly in the first two zones (names escape me). Finished zone world quests and got my first Emissary turn-in for the patch.

Artifact power seems to flow more freely (apparently we’re automagically buffed to Artifact Knowledge 41 now?) but my main is so deep into Concordance on his primary spec (level 7 now?) that it’s still crawling. OTOH, I have a feeling I’ll be unlocking alternate spec Concordance on my alts that have goodies (like Paladin alternate mounts) pretty quickly once I get them into the swing.

The first zone has a new-and-improved Fel Reaver that will squish you like a bug if you aggro it. Just like Burning Crusade. I still get panic-chills when I hear that terrible mechanical call.

Lore-wise, a fairy sharp left turn after the build-up of Patch 7.2 and 7.2.5. I didn’t watch any of the spoilery cinematics, so I was slightly gob-smacked when it went down. No, I won’t spoil it here.

I resubscribed (moment of weakness) just a few days ago, and 7.3 caught me off guard.

I’m trying to figure out the use for artifact power after the first billion. From what I’ve gathered, it’s pretty much going to go to waste once I empower my weapons (need to figure out how to do that too), and it’s tied to the spec, so I’m gonna need more there too. It still feels like they’re throwing AP around like candy - given my 7.0 toon, I’m ok with that.

I’m holding off exploring Argus until I finish 7.2. My current push is unlocking flying. I hate rep grinds, always have, always will.
