World Wide Words

Thank you, sandyr, for asking about posting the addresses to cool web sites. I have one that I’d been wanting to tell people here about for a while, but I wasn’t sure of if it would be proper.

Now that I know, www.quinion.com/words/ is a really fascinating website for people interested in words and their origins. It’s written in a very humorous and accesible fashion, you are entertained and informed all at once. A lot like here, actually.

I think there are at least a few people on this board that would really enjoy this site. Check it out, and tell me if you liked it.

Another site along those lines, which I find enlightening (and entertaining) is the Word Detective site. Worth a look.

A cubicle is just a padded cell without a door.

It was, indeed, worth a look, Cowboy. I just added it to my favorites list. Thanks!

I often enjoy reading The Maven’s Word of the Day. There’s also The Word Wizard

Another “must have” link even if/unless? you have the print version is Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable.
