Sorry all, but it looks like I’m gonna have to bow out of this one.
We’ll miss getting to meet you, but I’m sure there’ll be another Fest; hopefully, closer to Dee-troit next time!
Fortunately, tsarina remembered my charge to her and gave me a livejournal heads-up. I think I can make it, especially since I’m stuck taking the offspring to a movie party on Sunday in Canton, which will add up to multiple hours of kid-free time for my husband. I’ll just take what’s owed me in advance!
Cranky , that sounds more than fair! I promise you’ll not have to shush too many of us if we get out of hand. Probably just me, really.
You know, if there are enough of us, I can call in advance and reserve one of the private rooms at the restaurant, where you sit on the floor on cushions and eat of a low Japanese-style table. I think you have to have eight people for that, so I’ll look into that.
I’m just going to throw this out there, for the sake of suspense and anticipation…
Last time I ate at a great sushi restaurant, I got fabulously, fantastically, spectacularly sick in front of (and nearly on) other Dopers.
The food had nothing to do with it, but despite that . . . . . think how exciting a repeat would be!
I constantly carry a barf bag in my purse so I never, EVER have to make such a spectacle of myself again. I haven’t thrown up since then (over a year ago) but why take chances? However, the thought of puking on Sparty is damned alluring. Isn’t there a statue of him somewhere?
Good news for me will be bad news for you; my lady doctor had a cancellation for tomorrow afternoon and can fit me in, and I need to go before next week or wait another possibly two months.
It’s out this way at 3, so unless things go really well I won’t make it to Lansing. I’m sorry, because I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. I swear that next time I’ll be there w/ bells on. Have a good time.
Aww…that’s way less fun than eating strange food with strange people
Next Time then.
There is, but it’s far away from where we’re eating, and I’m not telling you where it is!
I am sure if I look through my old U-M Orientation packet I can find a map to it. Issued to each new student (graduate and undergrad) along with a coupon for a free can of spray paint at Meijer.
By the way, don’t count us in, tsarina. Dopes that we are, we forgot it was this weekend, and made other plans. :smack:
So…what’s the number now?
I’m having car troubles today (of all days…) <sigh> I guess I’ll have to wait for the next one
I JUST left East Lansing, bound for a job in Los Angeles. Would have been all over that…
Well, you schlubs that couldn’t make it missed out on fine food and excellent company. We were a small party, but it was super nice nonetheless.
