We’d be out the 23rd. We have gaming up in Allentown that weekend.
I’d love to go, and any weekend is good for me but the weekend of Opal’s do.
Let me know the whens and wheres and Aaron and I will be there.

Hmmmmm. . .well, I suppose I could drag myself down to Philadelphia to socialize with you lot.
Hell yes I’m up for this! Lemme know when and I’m there.
Is Sunday, March 2nd too far away? (February is a very short month.)
Since this was TruePisces’s idea, I guess doing it without her would be rude…
The problem is, I’m out of town on March 2nd, too. However, after talking to Verrain, I think we should be able to be back on the 23rd to get to it, if people want to be there then. We’ll just have to do a little creative juggling to make sure it happens.
We could do a late afternoonish sort of thing – would that give you enought time to get back?
It should. We aren’t sure if we’re borrowing his parents’ car or taking the bus in. IIRC, the bus gets back here around 11 or so, but I’d really rather go home first to drop off the suitcase. Worst comes to worst, I bat my eyes prettily at Zappo and ask him to pick us up at the bus station and we throw our suitcase in the back of his car.
Okay, so we’re saying Sunday, March 23rd, late afternoon Imax film, then dinner somewhere close by (restaurant to be researched by TruePisces).
If that’s the case, who’s in?
I am!
March 23rd?! I didn’t realize we were waiting that late!
You’ve got me all confused, TP!
Yeah, I meant February 23rd. Three weeks from tomorrow.
Well then, we’re in. I’ll start asking around about a good place to eat after we’re done at the IMAX.
around the institute is:
just down the parkway: tgifridays, macy’s crossing, there is a rest. in the building by macy’s crossing, it was the cowboy and peacock, it has changed hands and name.
a bit up the parkway: shula’s steakhouse.
a bit up the street: elephant and castle, roosevelts, irish pub.
on the other side of the parkway: jack’s firehouse, londons, illuminaire, zorba’s, rembrants, tavern on green, bridget’s, gloria’s fishhouse.
I’d be up for the Irish pub, but I’m always up for Irish pubs. Really, anything that anyone wants to do, we’ll be fine with.
Well, I can make the bigger one, in theory. I’ve got too much going on in May and June and to little income coming in currently to commit to anything else.
Superdude, the big one is Labor Day. This one is in 3 weeks. If you decide you can swing the amount for IMAX and dinner, and want crash space, you know you can crash here. At the moment, we don’t have anything going on in May or June. Of course, that COULD change between now and then…
Irish pub will be out for us, and for MsRobyn. She will for sure have Booga in tow, and we will likely as well have our little dude.
Some of the pubs I’ve been to are equally dining and bar, but since I haven’t been to this one, and having the chillins in tow, you’re probably right on that one.
rocking chair, are all the up/down/across the parkway easy to walk to, or will they have to be gotten there by car? If we decide on a “get there by car” option, would someone possibly be able to drive Verrain and I there? (Gods, I wish I’d brought my truck with me when I’d moved to NY, just so I’d have it now and not have to feel like a doofus asking for rides places.)
Im up for something.
I’ve got a very free schedule.
I am sans car.
Franklin Institute- I don’t know. That seems too mainstream somehow.
Restaurant- Anyplace with reasonably priced food, where can hold a conversation without yelling is fine by me.
Oh, c’mon, DocCathode – Imax is always cool, and an underwater one should be very trippy.
Stuff on the Parkway is walking distance – even stuff on the other side of the Parkway, mostly – of course, I’m a walker. I’d say it’s all within a mile or so.
If we do need to drive from the F.I. to the restaurant, I could jam a couple of people into El Kiario, a handsome but very compact car.
i consider most of philly walking distance. i usually walk to home depot in south philly and main street in man.
here is info on the irish pub. it is about 4 blocks away. the institute is on bfp, then, race, arch, market, chestnut, and finally walnut. there ya are.

tgi friday is about 2 blocks away on the parkway.
the horribly long cite will give you a complete list of center city restaurants.
the please touch museum is across the street from the institute, for those with mini humans that might enjoy poking at stuff, rather than watch an imax movie.
